Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To be fair, if Poch is willing to take us on until the rest of the season without committing to anything, I'd like to see what he could actually do with this group of players.

There's no way in hell we're this fucking shit.
I'm actually thinking that if the plan is for Poch to come in in the summer, then we may as well get him in now.

He'll have an extended evaluation period to see how shite we really are before the summer transfer window.

Our defenders are shit. Lloris and Son are done. We havent got a good replacement for Son (Richarlison is obviously not even close to peak Son). Kane is getting older and not the same as he used to be, and unlikely to sign a new contract.

In other words, a lot of players have to be sold, a lot have to be bought . Dont know the club is willing to do this. It woudl be easier just to sack Conte and shut up the fans making us think theres a new beginning. Squad rebuild will cost more.

Adding to your great post, I’m bored shitless watching most weeks.
I took my 2 boys to watch the Portsmouth match recently and after 60mins they said to me that they were bored and wanted to go home, I didn’t disagree.
I’ve been a religious watcher of spurs for 35 years and for the most we have been pretty average but I’ve always stuck by us because we we’re entertaining and win lose or draw we went for it and tried to win but the last few years of Jose,NES and now conte I just want my Tottenham back now
Absolutely agree. And then to see our rivals dance away having completed the double. Absolute salt in the wound. It makes watching this heavily defensive style even more painful.

And what? He'll be backed in the summer after he's addressed that the squad is utter shit? WHY ARE WE SO FUCKING NAIVE?
We're not naive, but an "elite manager" should have us playing better than this.

The football has been toilet and the only thing masking how bad we are is the fact that Liverpool and Chelsea are having awful seasons as well.

If they'd had their usual season we'd be struggling to hold on to 7th at his moment in time.

He has to change formation. I understand the formation we’re using would be great IF we had the players to fill the positions. We need a Hakimi for wing back not Doc or Sess. He’s trying to make a square peg fit a round whole and surely he sees that. I figure it’s one of the two, he either doesn’t see it in which case he’s a fool (I don’t say that lightly) or he sees it and he just doesn’t know how to fix it. He’s had a lot of success with the formation he’s employing but he’s not renowned as being the most flexible.

The reality is, the season can still be saved. We’re in 5th and not that far off the pack and we have winnable next round opponents in the FA Cup and CL. We’re only half way through the season. And with players coming back from injury, there’s still hope. But he needs to make changes now. The season will quickly get away from us if we don’t see improvement

My opinion is that there is no quick fix.
Tempting as it is to sack the manager it's only one piece of the puzzle that wont be enough to take us any further long term.

Sure, get in a Poch or similar and in the short term the football style is easier on the eye / more attacking etc but we will still have the same ownership issues / lack of necessary investment.

The club also doesnt have a clear vision or strategy and the scouting / player acquisition needs to massively improve to give whoever is manager the necessary tools to implement their ideas. We need to be able to identify prospects at all levels - from young players, bargains and top stars. More often than not it feels like a random punt on different types of players.

Then you have the current squad of players with too many prone to awful errors on a regular basis / mentality issues or general sub par ability at this level.

That's several big issues that need solving / improving and simply changing the manager wont solve all those.

We’ll be struggling to hold
On to 8th after the second City game

The reality is that we need a starting right back, two new starting centre backs, a starting left back (Perisic is not a long term option), a starting goal keeper, a starting creative midfielder (our system doesn't work) and a replacement for Son as a minimum to compete next season.

Realistically, that's £250m minimum that a manager will need. No fucking chance Levy sanctions that.

Look at us arguing over £40m for a highly rated RWB in Porro. Big clubs don't argue over £40m. We're never going to be a big club under ENIC/Levy.

The sooner they fuck off, the better.

He can't play Dier, Doc, Davies or Sess in a back 4. It's a recipe for disaster. Our midfield is not creative enough for it to be a 4-3-3.
