Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At this point it is just the suffer part that remains.

Kilpatrick is having a go at Conte in the Standard.

He's one of our old beat reporters with some connections. I can see Conte be on the way out soon.
Yea it’s been sufferbal for a while. It’s soul crushing really. I had such high hopes this summer.

Interesting about Kilpatrick. I’ve got no clue what’s the better option currently, stay with Conte until summer, and get his replacement in then, or cut ties now and get a caretaker in.

Either way I can’t see us being organised enough to have his replacement lined up already.
Will also be interesting to see what happens with Paratici

The more I think about it, the more I am starting to think, Conte is just orchestrating to be sacked.

I know quite little about football and tactics... BUT even I knew before game, that -

- we HAVE to put pressure on the team that is high in confidence, we cannot just start with limp dick all over again. We saw what impact having high-energy youngsters (Gil, Skipp, Sarr) had on our performances; when we do more pressing higher on the field, we make it harder for them to attack us. And Son is doing none of that + he is not scoring or assisting. OBVIOUSLY it should have been either Skippy starting as 3rd CM or even if for whatever reason we would go 3 FW's then Gil starting. Son still started and did nothing else to waste chances.
- we CANNOT leave them all the room in front of our defense. They move ball quickly and just defenders are not enough, specially given the error-proneness of our defenders. So start with the fucking midfield trio to take their room and freedom. But no, we surrender the midfield AND we sucked in 2nd goal from just that - acers of room in front of defense.

I posted this WAY before the game, and I am 100% convinced, this lineup would have done better in every aspect - better defensively, better at ball retention, better at creating chances -

-----------------Lloris--------------
---Romero----Dier---Davies----
-Doherty----Skipp------Perisic--
--------Sarr-----------PEH---------
------------Kulu----Kane-----------

Literally
- Skipp would have helped to close the room in front of defense
- Davies is 3x faster on his feet then Lenglet
- Perisic is infinite times better than Sess on the ball
- Kulu and Kane would have done the same they did in this game, just that they would have had more freedom and room do do it in...
- Son would have came on from the bench when Arsescum players would have been already tired and be relatively sharper

This lineup would have been better defensively (Skipp shielding, Davies better in defense), in ball retention (Son not losing ball, Perisic better passer, not totally outnumbered in midfield) and our attacking play would have been sharper (Perisic better than Sess, Skipp shielding given more room for fullbacks to attack).

But you know, that would have forced Conte to think. To change. To prepare. To try.
It is always easier to just replay the same pre-game instruction tape he has used from the first game. All same, no changes. Only Sarr in for injured Benta and "let's go". Fucking tragic.

If we drop Conte there are three likely option in my opinion.

Poch. The safe, easy option. Knows the club, knows Levy. And a loud section of the fanbase will be happy.

Tuchel. Known PL quality and quantity. Utilizes a similar formation to Conte. Not the most exciting football but a step up. And I'd probably trust him more to actually develop players.

Luis Enrique. Free from international football. His Barcelona track record was stellar. And stylistically I'd say that he falls between Poch and Tuchel. Implements elements both of possession football and rapid transition attacks. An added bonus to Luis is that he historically has no problem getting uncomfortable with big names at his clubs that undermine him. He had rows with both Messi at Barca and Totti at Roma. So no player in our dressing room would be beyond him to call out.

Those are the three big available names right now. So if we sack Conte I assume that we will approach either of them.

Honestly don't think I've got the energy for another new manager cycle, the last ~4 years have sucked the enjoyment out of watching Spurs for me completely.

I just want to see some attractive, progressive football again - if that means getting rid of Conte then so be it but it's not going to be an overnight fix either way - we're stuck in fucking football purgatory.

If Conte survives until the summer, I would not be against sounding out Genesio at Rennes. He has them playing some good football and keeps beating PSG.

No one manager has beaten them more in the Qatari era.

No. Its pretty well established that Sissoko was our lockerroom leader and the real captain of our squad. He was directing the play on the pitch and certainly wasn't being picked in the squad for his technical ability!

No, you are now mixing up "pointing" and "directing".

He was pointing fingers where else the ball should be passed to avoid being on the ball himself.
He got along with lot of players and as person he seemed fun and friendly. But again - his on-pitch abilities (or lack of) would never let such player to be "lockerroom leader".

I got the impression (rightly or wrongly) that Conte was Paratici’s push. He was desperate to get him.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes too, although obviously, DoF roles are rare so he might want to stay.
I don't think that he would walk just because Conte goes. DOFs have to be used to managers changing after all.

But if we don't involve him in picking the successor then that may be a problem.

I think it's a combination of Conte and Levy/Enic as to why it's failing so miserably. But all of them have sucked what little joy and enthusiasm I had left right out of me.

He's only got 18 months on his contract as well. Add in all the Juve stuff and his choice of managers to date Gattuso, Nuno, then i dont want him anywhere near picking the next one. It will be another defensive minded bore fest. Trouble is i dont want Levy anywhere near picking the next one either

Paratici seems good at players, getting good deals for Kulusevski so I can see why Levy brought him in.

What worries me is this guy wanted Nuno and Gattuso. His football vision concerns me a lot. He seems an elite wheeler dealer but like Levy I am not 100% on his vision if he even has one. Would love a takeover and someone like Rangnick or Campos stuck in DoF.
