Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Italian press

Boxing Day in the Premier League was played today, and Antonio Conte's Tottenham won 3-0 against London's Crystal Palace (just out of curiosity, the Crystal Palace was a Victorian building built in London to host the first Universal Exhibition, today called Expo destroyed in a fire of 1936). After the convincing victory signed by Kane, Lucas Moura and Son, Antonio Conte let himself go, in the classic ritual press conference, to a comment on Inter, his former team.

Conte's words sound like a vindication of his own work done in Milan, as well as a celebration of Inzaghi's current work:

"Inter winter champion? The continuity of Inter is a pleasure because it is the continuity of a work that we have started and are now continuing in the best possible way. There is only to congratulate, I think that Inter have laid the foundations to stay there for many years. "

After that, in full Conte style, comes the provocation:

“Maybe I'll come back one day to try to overturn the odds again”.

Conte is a coach born to fight, Tottenham's parable proves it
We are sure that Antonio Conte would really enjoy returning to Serie A and destroying the dominance of the same team that he helped build and make great. After all, that's what he does best. Apart from Chelsea in 2016, in fact, the Salento coach has never accepted top-level teams, preferring to build glory thanks to work and determination. Just what is happening even now with Tottenham. The Spurs are a team that hasn't won the Premier League since 1960-61, and in general an important trophy has been missing for quite some time.

Since Conte took over from Espirito Santo, the Spurs' route has changed completely. Since he took charge of the team, Tottenham have never lost in the Premier League, also holding up the Liverpool wave with a nice 2-2. Too bad for the mock elimination from the Conference League (with a 3-0 at table due to Covid), but also the victory in the League Cup quarter-finals against West Ham, which is now behind him in the standings.

Conte's story speaks for itself, his return to Serie A would be yet another success
Now Conte's mind is 100% focused on Tottenham, but when the adventure ends (hopefully later possible and with a lot of luck), then the doors of Serie A could reopen for him. And what a pleasure it would be for Conte to beat his own. Inter, a team that almost only thanks to him has returned to dreaming in Italy and in Europe. In addition to this, the pleasure of beating Juventus for a second time, for which the speech is identical to that made for Inter, would be enormous.

Conte took two teams in disarray, Juventus and Inter, and brought them back to being battleships, with the Bianconeri who, thanks to the work of the Salento coach, have won nine Scudetti in a row. Seeing him again in Serie A would be a great thing for our league, and would raise the level of the challenge more, with a fierce ex who would do anything to dethrone his teams once again.

We remember in fact that Juve before Conte came from two consecutive seventh places, while Inter was not exactly a team fighting for the Scudetto. Conte's coaching history speaks for itself, these are the challenges that load him.

I don't agree with your first sentence tbh, I don't think they are at max yet. The rest I do agree with as, though they may not be at max, the ceiling isn't that high for some of the players we have
you cant expect much from this squad. the backline is shite if its up against a proper side, the midfield also not good enough to go toe to toe with a proper side. its ok beating the crystal palaces of the world, its different when youre up against the top sies who have proper players.

Not had the toughest run but that’s a helluva record considering the basket case he inherited from the simpleton
It’s been a nice run of fixtures but the difference in desire and structure and organisation is most encouraging.

It’s very unusual to have a run of five consecutive league games all at home. The next two away to Southampton and Watford very winnable.

It's been a perfect run of fixtures to get the team accustomed to his tactics, while still winning and keeping morale high. And the cancelled games are also a blessing in disguise, as they will have helped with fitness (Covid aside) and getting the tactics even more ingrained. Come the difficult games, the team will be ready, as was already evidenced in the Pool game.

Tactically this fits both Moura and Son as it fit Hazard last time Conte broke from his normal 3-5-2 to play 3-4-3.

Son, Moura, and Hazard are all much better playing as inside forwards as the 3-4-3 promotes rather than wingers who have crossing and width responsibilities. The wingbacks allow them to play centrally where they are more comfortable and more dangerous.

Early days though signs are very very good and as well documented he knows what he’s about we’ve only got him on a two year deal think Levy and his crew should seriously think about a long term plan, yes I know Conte has a history of the opposite but we show him how much we appreciate him you never know.
