What Poch's system did so well was keep our backline from being subjected to sustained pressure.

Poch also had prime, fit, Jan, Toby, Wanyama and Dembele of course. For all the (absolutely true) talk of him generating gold out of thin air, he did have some top players making it impossible to punish us for playing his high-wire football.

Fair point we did have better defenders then but remember none of them were what you’d call superstar signings. We paid less for some of them than the crap we have purchased on the last 3 years. However the tactic of keeping the pressure off your defence by attacking and pressing higher is still a valid one. The strange thing is although do criticise conte with some of his tactics and player selections there are some games where it looks his seen the light and told us to play to our strengths. Like v pool , Leicester, Brighton for most parts last week, Leeds 2nd half. However he then reverts to type. Just when you think we are gonna have a different approach he goes back to shitting the bed. Like v chavs with that ultra defensive line up and basically threw the gane before even starting. He needs to be bolder and play to our strengths push the team up the pitch and ditch the WBs.

A few days before that we played another team whose coach is doing a great job, dominates most of the teams his teams plays, also with a pretty wank squad. Forgive me if I don't piss myself if the bloke we are paying 17m a year, and providing with more transfer funds and player salary budget can't do a better job than Potter and Hassenhuttl.

So is it contes fault ?? The squad is shit, we need real investment. This manager really knows what he is doing and keeps being told unlike potter and hassenhutl that we are ambitious and want to compete..so naturally he says the squad is not good enough for those ambitions..we all know he is correct, we have the worst squad in the big 6...

Totally, but whereas you look at guys like Dele or Rose or Dier or even to an extent Eriksen as players Poch made who never performed nearly as well in any other situations, those guys I mentioned were just class, though tbf all of them peaked in their careers under Poch as well.

The only player who played a meaningful amount of football under Poch at Spurs for whom that wasn't the peak of their career would be Sonny, I'd argue.

And if you think Potter would come in and magic these players into proper footballers, you're on another planet (which I suspect might well be the case, regardless).

You’re deluded if you think Conte is going to get funds under this regime to build a team in his own style.

It’s going to end in tears, I’ve said it since he was appointed. Wrong manager for this club and at the wrong time.
 
To be fair to Conte, he's always been consistent in saying we're far off from being a top team and are in a false position.

Must have seen so much fuck'ry in training, was always gonna play down what we can achieve this season with the cloggers we've got.
