Yeah they were toxic because Nuno was an abysmal stop gap appointment and we had a poor squad. I dont think we'd be finishing 8th under anyone now (with a few exceptions). We have the bones of a decent side taking shape with Romero, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp, Kulusevski, Richarlison with Udogie to come. Whoever is our manager we clearly have to spend big on 4 or 5 top players but as Eddie Howe is proving you really dont need 3 seasons to build a side and play good stuff.

As much as I hate the messenger he’s completely right, there’s far too many that regularly start for us that wouldn’t for anyone else in the top 6.
I think players like Dier, Davies, shit even Royal wouldn’t be that bad if all that was asked of them was to be rotational players who only get mins in cups and/or in case of injury. If anything that used to be Davies’ role ffs. We ask too much of these limited players and then turn around shocked when they do badly vs the teams you have to be beating if you’re gonna be a serious side.
Howe has spent £200 million and has no Europe. Arteta (and Conte and Potter) have made it clear that it takes multiple seasons. What you really mean is that AN Other manager will get better results and performances than Conte. Which is fair enough but might be optimistic. Lot of Chelsea fans wanting off the Potter train.
We've spent not far off that Richarlison £60m, Bissouma £25m, Bentancur £17m, Kulusevski £35m, Spence £12 and made Romero permanent £45m. We need to do a lot more but the difference between their improvement and ours is massive. Howe also getting improvement out of players that were going nowhere like Almiron and Joelinton. I agree on no Europe being an advantage but it shows it can be done and quickly

We’ve picked up 1 point from 15 in 5 games against the sides who will in almost all certainty occupy the Top 7 places.we won't get top 4 this season with these tactics we are already 4th after newcastles win today we will end up in 6 or 7 th place by the end of season if this continues!
I can’t see us registering a win against any of those top sides this season playing dinosaur Conte Ball.
It’s Man U losing to Brentford, Brighton and Villa and Dippers losing to Notts Forest and Leeds and drawing with Fulham, Brighton and Palace that has us in a more elevated position in the table than either our form or results really merit. Can’t see either of them remaining so profligate as the season progresses.

great manager that is. wont change his system even if he doesnt have the players to play it. 15m a year and only has one way of playing. cant adapt to what he has available.
youd think a professional football manager would come up with the system they think is optimal to what they have available in the squad, let alone a bloke earning 15m a year! fair enough he has his favourite system but dont try and force it when youre playing with wing backs like sess and emerson when wing backs are vital to your system! insanity

Pep didn't even though he didn't have a proper GK or full backs

How are you meant to get the shit players out the club if you're trying to cater to them and how are you meant to get new ones in if you aren't highlighting their deficiencies? Because it's too easy to change a system for the short term but that doesn't help us for the ling term.
thats a good point, but youd think hed be going to the chairman or paritici and saying he cant play his system because the quality isnt there so hes going to have to do this or we will drop too many points. if they need to see emerson royal play 20 games at RWB to see that hes a fucking donkey then they shouldnt be anywhere near running a football club anyway.

At Chelsea, Conte initially used 4-2-4 but eventually switched to 3-4-3 (in reality more of a 3-4-2-1) because they were conceding too many chances. The turning point came during a defeat to Woolwich and it would prove to be a stroke of genius on Conte's part as the Blues swept to Premier League glory that year.
Well he said he needs what 2/3 windows to fix this shit, we just gotta be patient and expect some upgrades in the transfer windows.
Newcastle are consistently getting players in. Young, fresh expensive and hungry players. Every player knows they're playing for their future. They have about 5/6 players bought within the last year within their team.
Guimarães is the best CM in the PL outside of De Bruyne.
Conte has Been Davies as a CB as well as Dier who have massively under performed for years. He has improved basically everyone at the club and is finding a way in a very difficult period. The same sort of injuries have floored Liverpool's season.
It's killing me people buying into media driven agenda around Conte playing crap football. We've scored the 3rd most goals in the league since he took over. He's signed arguably our best 2 players after Kane. What more does this manager have to do??

Do yourself a favour and stop listening to talksport / Skysports. The absolutely worst thing we could do is add yet more instability to ourselves. Conte knows that it takes to WIN. He could easily sign another contract but he knows his contract situation plays into his hand when it comes to the transfer window opening.
He's shown more passion on the sideline than any of manager in my lifetime and clearly cannot stand loosing... This man needs time at the very least! Look at Arteta for crying out loud! Look at how much investment he's been given also!
You really want this guy gone because he's not playing a lightweight Gil and a championship youngster in Spence in a big game against Liverpool?
Your frustration if anything should be pointed at the board. Some of the signings and lack of over the past 5 years are the cause of our issues. Not the Gaffer.

to be honest i dont mind the system but hes playing players that cant deal with it. things look a lot brighter when you play the best players. his obsession with emerson is beyond a joke. his special treatment of playing son for 19 games when hes in dreadful form is another one. he had options to get son out of there but benched rich or kulu instead! hes had options to play doherty instead of emerson but stuck with emerson when its clear as day hes killing us down that right hand side.
we actually looked good last 20 today because we had actual footballers out there. doc and kulu linking up down the right and looking an actual threat (the fucking goal came from them linking up after like 25 seconds). he seems to have serious favouritism and its not only costing us points its making the gamea a chore to watch, im sick of watching son not know what to do with the ball unless hes shooting or crossing, im sick of watching emerson full stop.
Pretty much, not sure how much more mileage he can get out of some of the average players in the squad, h's petty much kept us 3rd/4th with this lot this season and last when some of our players are seriously lacking and shouldn't really be anywhere near top 4 but here we are.
And yeah he does some seriously annoying shit like he has his favourites that he continues to play and he keeps playing Emerson fucking Royal but generally overall he's doing a good job and I think it's clear as mud to see what the issues are in this team, the lack of quality.

It’s this media driven narrative of Conte the serial winner that is wearing a bit thin at this stage. Serie A where he has spent most of his managerial career has been a second rate League for years. After that it’s one season at Chavs, 6 years ago, when he inherited a title winning team from Mourinho.

But you don't hire Conte to get him to adapt to our Poundland defenders. Conte was hired because what he does works. It worked to get us from a middling position back into the champions league places. And it's worked to have us in that position again currently.
We won't go beyond that until we get better players than Dier, Davies, Emerson (and I'd add Lloris) to play in our regular starting XI.
We have partially backed Conte, but not yet fully. Fully back him, or it's a pointless exercise to hire him in the first place.
"Consistently"? ........Their current lot have only been there for 2 windows.
Wilson, Tripper, Woods, Pope, Target, Burn aren't young players..... They're all 27 and up.
