Tbh, I actually wouldn’t place Ndombele and Lo Celso in the Emerson, Sessengnon, Gil, Sarr bracket of cheap dud/punt options.
They were a very rare occasion where the club actually didn’t cheap out and went and got two of our top targets, they just didn’t work out for varying reasons.
Ndombele and Lo Celso were two players who signed for the club mainly because of Pochettino. He gets sacked and they have to spend two years under a washed Mourinho, Mason and Nuno before finally getting someone competent in Conte.
In Lo Celso’s case, he’s been very good everywhere he’s been, is one of Argentina’s most important players and he was one of our candidates for player of the season in his first season under Poch/Mourinho (a fact people conveniently forget very often).
What I’m saying is, I don’t think they should be used as a stick to beat down the idea of spending big bucks on top targets as some insist on doing. It’s a very flawed argument and view point.
