Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In what universe does it make sense for Spurs to hire Conte?

Yeah let's hire another ex-Chelsea manager because that has worked out so well for us in the past. Plus he's another Mourinho-type personality that is guaranteed not to be a long-term appointment. Even if he is given a huge transfer budget this seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

No inside track on a possible Conte appointment, but on his departure it's very simple, promises and guarantees were made in March to Conte which have since been broken. Conte told them he would walk if those promises were not met and he has, better to go out a success than oversee a failure.

Can Levy meet his demands? who knows but Spurs would be one of the few clubs with the financial clout to do so, interesting couple of weeks coming up.

Conte after his first training session with our squad...

Somebody phone the wife up and tell her to pick me up off the floor.........

We are probably offering twice his wage and a 50 or 60% higher squad wage bill, I'd speculate.

Give Conte promise of rolling Kane n Son money into the squad would be very enticing to him, again I speculate. We have £175M if Kane, Foyth, Aurier go as appears 99% likely.

Sessegnon fits his system ideally, Reguillon as well, Doherty and Bergwign (as said he could be molded ala Moses, Moura ditto) the strong CM means he'd want 1 CM IMO (£40-50M two if he doesn't trust Ndombele, but he'd agree that would need to cover itself). CB I think he can get set with £50M (two £25M). So £90M to set up his defence and midfield, leaves £85M for two attackers (my desire, though Lukaku and Scarlett would be fine for me, if he wants the money better spread through the team).

Seems simple to me!
I don't see how Sessegnon fits Conte's system. Conte prefers wingback with ability to beat his man head on, and stay wide. He can use Moses because Moses has good dribbling ability. Sessegnon is not that good a dribbler. And IMO he's better running off ball infiltrating box, where his finishing ability would shine. Doherty also rarely dribbles. Bergwjin has the work rate but he lacks defensive presence if he's needed to tuck inside out box to defend. That only leaves Reguilon that can leave if Real Madrid decided to trigger the buy back clause in summer.

Conte is also specific about his signings. Chavski spent big on Morata after they failed to land Lukaku, and we all knew how Conte reacted bitterly in the public. The chance he wants some cheap alternatives (2 x 25 mil) CB is almost slim. So if Conte wants somebody, and the selling club hike the price, we have no other choice to pay, regardless of real valuation. This is similar theme when Conte left Juventus, now Inter. Transfer is not only about the transfer fee. There is plenty money involving with the wage, and agent fee. Alexis Sanchez and Eriksen cost Inter a bunch in wage, and with little contribution. Conte doesn't care about these financial setback, so he's only on his path to demand more money, doesn't give a thought about how to make money to fund his demand,

Zidane out Conte in. No way he’s coming near the shit show we have going on at the minute
Are we sure they wouldn't rather have Allegri?

The force of personality that makes Conte so appealing for Spurs does make him a risk at Real Madrid.

What they are always looking for is someone to keep all their glittering jewels organized and at the center of attention. Allegri is an obvious choice.

Conte would draw more headlines though, that is also always a consideration at that club.

I'm still pretty meh on Conte, I think Levy just wants another big name to try and please the fans, ive been saying for a while now though that I don't quite think we'll get who we really need. Our chances went with ten Hag and Nagelsmann for decent project managers, and I'm not quite sure I would see Poch back quite yet.

Frankly, the thing with the big names as well, is that Levy already has shown he isn't hesitant to fire a manager before a cup game if it saves him a few Bob, so why should that be any different with Conte?
