Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Tbh, if we get some modicum of silver-ware success I'd want Conte to be the one to stay and attempt to build a legacy....... For us to be too pre-occupied on the next guy is a seriously worrying prospect.

I don't think that's the case at all, it's merely future proofing and having a plan, actually a good thing tbh

As you frame it; yes, a good thing.... As the tweet frames it; less encouraging IMO.

IMO the 'plan' ought to be for Conte to be around for as long as possible seeing as he's the most proven manager we're likely to get (and if he wants to stick around that will signify things had been going well mutually)..... Not for him to be merely a repair man.

This cannot be true.

We've apparently appointed Conte in hopes that it will make Poch want to come back. Like, lol?

It's actually smart if you break it down.

Conte rarely stays with one club very long. He has no emotional connection to Spurs, so the chances he's he more than 2-3 years is very unlikely

Poch's status is only growing. It's silly to think that after he leaves PSG, he'll come back to Spurs if the club is still a mess. Clubs like United and Real will certainly have a look at him.

Last time Poch came to Spurs, he was leading a new reclamation project. I'm sure he'll want to win trophies immediately.

So we better hope it's true. Because it's actually good realistic planning by the club.

for me he has to win stuff with psg first, best team they had in decades, think they will walk league myself, champions league maybe

Is it?

TBH, unless he wins the CL I don't expect the needle to have shifted much.

There's a strong argument for the idea that what he did here is far more impressive than winning Ligue Un with PSG.

Might have to dry your eyes a bit with Poch as I very much see him going to United.
Could even explain why they haven't sacked OGS despite being shite. They want a Fergie Mk2, a coach who will be there for over a decade. He would love that and the backing he'd get year on year.

I didn't read it like that

Yeah, maybe if they had actually backed Pochettino better they could have cut out the middlemen...

We all knew financial backing would be limited during the stadium rebuild project.... So did Poch when he signed his new deal. Then as soon as the new gaff opened we let him blow £130-140m. Any criticism on this front should revolve around whether or not we should have given him more time when he was struggling, rather than sacking him when we did. That said, even he seemed to intimate that he was spent and needed to re-fresh himself.

I think his biggest gripe was, and still probably is, who we didn't ge rid of.
