Antonio Conte explains decision to ban ketchup and mayonnaise at Tottenham

Antonio Conte has put a stop to condiments, and fast food, at Tottenham, just like Steven Gerrard has done up at Aston Villa.

Antonio Conte has explained why he has banned fast food, ketchup and mayonnaise for Tottenham ’s underachievers.

The new Spurs boss has been quick to implement the dietary changes that turned Chelsea back into champions of the Premier League in 2017.

It comes after Conte arrested the run of three defeats in four games last month which cost Nuno Espirito Santo his job.

Three of Conte’s six coaches will work on fitness with the Italian determined to improve their physical conditioning.

Conte said: “At Chelsea, it was the same - we spoke about the importance of eating well.

“At every one of the clubs that I trained I had a nutritionist and these aspects are important because you have to stay in the right weight and to do that you have to have the good fat and the good muscle.

This is a part of our work now and the player’s work - to be professional.

“To be professional means you have to take care of your body. If you do this, you recover well and you are at less risk of injury for sure. You are also ready to face the training if sometimes the training is hard.”
Conte has warned his stars that he will know if they think they can sneak a cheeky pizza or McDonalds under the radar away from the training ground.

“For sure I can see the paper with the nutritionist,” he said. “I can see whether this is okay or this is not okay.

“If you are not okay it means that maybe you're not doing well when you are out outside of the training centre.”

Spurs host ailing Leeds on Sunday hoping to kick start their season with their first Premier League win since a 3-2 win at Newcastle on October 17.

But Conte went on: “The training and the game is only the final part of your work. You have to prepare your body, your mind and also your heart and your passion to do this.”

Am I the only one who thinks that players eating properly and keeping their weight under control should be a given, considering they are supposed to be professionals!

I totally agree with you but if you look at football (and footballers) they seem to lag behind when it comes to keeping fit compared to individual top athletes. Before Wenger introduced "diet" to footballers in England, diet was a "foreign thingy" - long after dieting had been a common thing among individual top athletes (like skiers, runners, gymnastics, etc.)

He made just 14 appearances (only 9 in the PL) when Conte Joined, he then retired!!! Someone is desperate for attention so he latches onto what the hot topic in the football world is, Conte. All this to make himself relevant whilst he's hawking himself out for jobs (hence why he's now on Twitter). Cunt.

I have to admit, I didn’t realise Terry was still playing when Conte managed Chelsea until that tweet 😂

"I have seen that many managers struggle about this situation, about the position," said Conte.

"Tanguy has the quality. At the same time he has to understand that there is a team and he has to play into the team. I think it means that it is important to keep order and to do what the position asks you to do.

"For sure with Tanguy we are working. We are working very hard. He has to work much more than the others, because he has talent but he has to put this talent into the team for the best of the team, not for the single player.

"In my football, I have an idea and in this idea there are tasks for the players. Every single player has to know what he has to do. Otherwise, if every player just goes and runs around the pitch, I think it will be a mess."

Sometimes players need to be singled out in public. Shame some of you think this terrible management, I wonder where all the rage is now it’s Conte though

When Conte starts scapegoating and does it every single press conference and interview for a season then maybe you'll have a point
