Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Conte oozes class in those interviews. Just casually dropping Arrigo Sacchi quotes, what a man.

This is a project that he's discribing.
Conte’s not thick, he’ll have known that the squad needed to be improved and that it was going to take time to get them playing the way he wants.

At the same time, he’s not talking about a five year project and sitting around patiently waiting for Levy to get it together. His history indicates he only has so much patience.

I'm expecting he'll be here no more than 3 seasons.

Many managers when joining a Club halfway through a season sign an initial 18-month contract (lots of examples of this). I don't know the reasoning behind this but can guess that it's a decent compromise on both sides as the risk is equal on both sides.

Something is wrong/not working on the pitch for a manager to be fired mid-season, so a new manager doesn't want to be held entirely accountable for this if the situation can't be fixed within the parameters discussed between the two parties at the point of hiring. Equally, the club don't want to commit to a managers bullshit who promises that he can fix the issue (just need to look at the bullshit the dinosaur spun on him studying a new system/philosophy during his time off).

It encourages both parties to work together, both having skin in the game and if their time together is productive and trust exists between the two both can reward each other by extending the contract.

Him being successful with us (winning something) isn't a guarantee of him sticking around either. More than any other coach/manager I think he understands the level of intensity he brings can't be sustained over a long period of time, he needs that reset before he can go again. It's an easier sell to be this whirlwind to a new group of players than the same group each year.

His biggest challenge is time with the player on the training ground, he simply doesn't have this luxury. But without a doubt, he knew this from the day he signed and it's why I absolutely hatted out fans booing his team after just 45mins of football into his home PL debut!!! Fucking disgusting IMO.

I think it’s too easy to say the players are crapnhaving spent so much money on them.
From Conte”s quote to me his saying:
1) the club have spent money
2) that money may or may not have been spent well
3) for the money spent the results haven’t matched

We certainly should have beaten NS with that starting 11. So now it comes down to following I believe:
1) Conte has to improve these players in the attributes his already mentioned
2) he has to show he couch a style of play that’s suits are players
3) we have to be a bit more tactically smarter and this for Conte to implement.
4) conte has to bring something to the table as well and not just his CV
5) before buying we will need to sell and re-invest with May additional funds provivded by baldy
6) it can’t all be about just throwing money at the problem. Lots of teams have done that and failed. The couch has to implement a style of play first then bring in players to fit that as well as work with those already at the club.
7) it’s a two way thing Conte has to rise to the challenge and the club need to back him

We / He can’t just bleat every time we lose that we need wholesale changes that ain’t gonna happen. He needs to prove he can couch. For example would potter moan about lack of investment or would he get on with the job of couching players to the best of their abilities and implement a style of play suitable for said players?
Also think the 5 at the back ain’t gonna work with our shite defenders and CM players.

So basically, you seen to infer this is all on Conte to fix.

Think you are alone, in thinking the shit creek we're paddling frantically through is not 100% Enic's volition and their duty to get their very substantial cheque book out, the moment he demands, again, and again.

Levy needs to know he's the little bitch he is, in this moment.

Heard all was going well in the interview until it got to transfers. ETH wanted De Ligt, De Jong, VDB, Gravenberch and Dani Olmo with Onana and possibly Mazroui to follow at a later window. The massive problem was that ETH wanted to sell Kane and Levy was having none of it and thats where things ended.

If that's true, he's gone up multiple rungs on my perceptual ladder.

That sounds like a list of "these are the types I would like, if we sell Kane as I support".

He could see the Kane problem, and our disaster CM/AMF, props.

From the Mirror article: "Sergio Reguilon, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Lucas Moura, Pierre-Emile Hojberg and academy players Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp have all impressed Conte while Ryan Sessegnon, despite being sent off against Mura, is likely to get more chances."

We know he likes Son, Romero and Kane, so with the players mentioned at least he has a core to work with by the look of it.
I like all those guys, too.
Just need someone to pass the ball to Harry Kane.

Kane has scored 1 from 25 shots

Remember when you said shooting accuracy was irrelevant? And shots to goal ratio meant nothing..

Do we need to pass it to him 50 times in total to get him his second goal?

The stupid thing about your argument is that if Kane had scored 15 goals, from the exact same situations he’s had, you wouldn’t be complaining about supply.

Kane missing one on ones doesn’t mean he didn’t have a chance to score.

I absolutely fucking love Conte’s comments about the club’s owners 😂

I’m assuming Levy told him before he signed that he can have pretty much whatever he wants.

Otherwise I imagine he’s sat fully clothed in his bath right now with his head in his hands wondering why he has just paid someone £15m a year to roast the living shit out of him.

It's funny how comments are skewed based on one's pereception

The problem is who he wants, who he'll get and who we can honestly bring in.

Take De Ligt for example, no doubt he is the type of player Conte would want, but can you realistically see him coming here over a Chelsea, Bayern or God Forbid Liverpool? Could we afford him? He wants the ECL, would he want to come to Spurs or Conte?

I don't think we're in a position to just say we want thereforelets go out and get...we may have money to play with. But are top players coming down from the CL to the Vanarama European League?

Do any of those clubs want him?

I think he will just stay at Juve, but Chelsea look to be going for Kounde, Liverpool are set at CB and Bayern rarely make moves like that.

The good news is, like with Romero, we are set up to get quality players that the big clubs can't go for, for whatever reason. With many of the top teams being set at multiple positions and the Spanish clubs in financial trouble this is the time we should be aggressive to get players.
