Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think he was hoping Gil and Doherty switching with the inside rcb and lcb would cause havov on their deep 10 man block and create openings. Something that traditional wing backs wouldn't do since their placement is predictable.

It's quite clever actually. It just didn't work. We certainly had chances.

It's not easy playing against a 10 man deep block away. Especially against the saints.

I do agree if Ndombele was fit he should have come on for someone. We did need some more creativity from cm, especially a dribbler who can beat a block and then release it.
Ndombele. Our record signing. Fit. Absolute joker.

the problem is we lack that throughout the squad. at 10 vs 11 they was obviously getting men behind the ball, so you need players who can move the ball about at speed..we have players that struggle/cant to do that.

its actually not good for us to go against 10 men against some sides, as if they are forced to get back and compact that is our achilles heel as we dont have technically competent players who can break down teams with quick controlled one touch football.

Conte gets no stick for today whatsoever. 2 dubious VAR goals chalked off and loads of chances. The ball just wouldn’t go in and Southampton had Lady Luck on their side. What else could Conte do ? He did fantastically to take off Reguilon at half time when we could all see he was going to get sent off. Conte has been spot on with just about everything so far. It wasn’t our day today and let’s not forget, we have also played only 44 hours before that. Unbeaten in the premier league since his arrival and the only manager to do that for us in this run of games. No criticism whatsoever should be directed at Conte.

While the draw and performance today were disappointing he has 3 draws and 4 wins in his first 7 games, same as Tuchel. Impressive considering we don't have comparable quality to that Chelsea squad.

Agree but the majority of those offering opinion a only do so in the absence of winning a game.

It's always a reaction so I mostly dismiss it as nothing more than disappointment alongside our know it all friend Mr Hindsight.
I wonder how Conte feels, or his staff, after not winning a game? I hope none of them come on here and read the vitriol that outpours.

One can express a disappointment at not gaining three points, in a way that is still supportive of Conte and staff.

End of Comte’s post match interview

“ we need to improve, but we also need to improve the squad

Now it’s down to you Levy you bald fuck. No more fucking excuses. Give this guy the backing in January

January 1st is looming. We can only speculate what is going on behind closed doors. Yes, there is a huge deficit on the stadium.

But Levy, whatever you do, saying to Conte there is no money to spend on players, is not one of the answers.

You must be an intelligent man to get the stadium built in the first place. All credit to you for that,

But no players being sold or released. No new players being bought as opposed to freebies is not one of the answers.

Good post and I agree with most of it. But there is a valid opinion that he could have subbed Ndombele for Hog.
I don't agree but it is a valid opinion.
Doherty should have gone on the right and Gil on the left wings.

Considering we were dominating their 10 men, an additional player who knows how to score and assist woudl have been helpful instead of 3 CBs who we know wont be scoring or assisting much.

Hes still learning about this squad , so no big deal.

From Italian press

The Italian coach is the only coach in Tottenham history to be beaten in the first 7 league games, but it will be a poor consolation for him. "We must be disappointed," is the laconic but significant comment of the coach at the end of the match.
