Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Weve been really lucky with coaches in our history then!
Lol. In fairness, this is one very tough league indeed, so it is an achievement but there’s a long way to go still. I love Conte and think he will win things if the bald one opens our moth bitten wallet and backs him to the hilt - even if that means selling duds like Ndombele & Lo Celso for a fraction of what we paid, to free up wages and squad places for some success hungry talents rather than fat cats and country before club wankers. No half measures.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants a meeting with chairman Daniel Levy to discuss their January transfer plans but warned it could take two or three years for the club to get back into the Champions League.

Conte met with Levy after his first month in charge but asked for more time to evaluate his squad.

The Italian says he is now ready to outline which areas the club have to improve. Spurs have not finished in the top four since the 2018-2019 campaign and Conte insisted new signings alone might not be enough to propel them into a European spot this season.

‘We had a meeting one month after I took charge but I think it wasn’t the right the time,’ said Conte. ‘Now I’m ready. I’m waiting for the meeting with the club to speak about this. The meeting can tell you everything but it can also tell you nothing.

‘You make qualification for Champions League in years, not in only two or three months or in only one transfer market. Football is not this way.

‘I think that in this moment there are important teams. It will be very difficult.

To get a place in the Champions League someone has to fail, but it must be a big failure. I think there are four big teams, they are the favourites in this moment.

‘Then there are other teams that try to build with important investment in this year to try to reduce this gap.

‘It’s not only one transfer market. Football is complicated, it’s not only money. You have to build. I’m here to do this but I know it will be very difficult.

‘I want to be honest with everybody.

‘To build something important we need to have time and patience.

‘Now I’m sure, after I made my evaluation in the last two months.’

Maybe there won’t be signings after all this month then…

hope he will off load some of the ones he doesn't want (savings on wage bll)
then get in replacements
LCB is really needed,
extra money from being in top 4 or top 6 would cover some of the transfer fee, waiting till the summer could mean missing that money

I'm not expecting huge movement this month, the January window rarely unearths a diamond (Rafa being the exception). Let's see what transpires, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thought he left b/c Inter wouldn’t get him the players he wanted/they were going to sell some players he wanted to keep?

He still left behind a good team/system. Inzaghi plays almost the same setup with some tweaks, so he pretty much came in and is benefitting from Conte's good work, they also brought in some players on the cheap who have proved successful signings.

I imagine Conte wanted to push on and challenge in Europe, this team is still good enough to win Serie A, but it won't get close to that. He wouldn't have been happy with just maintaining or very slightly improving on their level.
