Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

this squad is full of meek little boys, just a bunch of followers. the only one who isnt so much of a meek little follower is PEH buts hes a useless knob. we dont have one man in that squad who sticks their chest out to have it when times are tough. they just roll over like meek little boys time and time again...fucking pathetic! conte needs to get some actual men in there asap.

to be fair romero i think is a good one...but we need fucking more like that! people that stand up for themselves and the badge.

no wonder we are tagged with being soft and flakey with the meek little boys we have. its deserved!

our players are mentally weak, they don't have that win it mental drive
only need 1 or 2 with that drive and the rest will follow
its that believe thing, remember when i played for good teams (not that i was much good) when we were 1-0 or 2-0 down i could look round as say he will score or him or him or me and most times we turned it round
also played for poor teams and knew 0-0 with few mins to go we would lose and we normally did

they dont have leaders. to be honest some of them are so meek and fragile that they are no use to a leader anyway.

just a bunch of herbert's who allow themselves to be bullied and abused.

I've said it before and I'll say it again -

I've noticed that over the last couple games, Kane has played much further up front that he has in the past under Conte.

Keeping Kane as close to the opponents box as possible is NOT the way to go. He's just not type of player anymore.

The biggest reason why we shouldn't have Kane play so far up top is that he (literally) clogs the space in the middle of the pitch for our attackers to run in to.

How many times did we see Lucas or Son get the ball, dribble a bit and then just run into a sea of defenders in the middle of the pitch?

This is what happens when we have Kane set up shop centrally and as close to the goal as possible.

When we were at our best playing under Conte, Kane was actually playing in a MUCH deeper role, which drew out defenders away from their goal and allowed space for our other players to run in to.

By keeping Kane as close to the goal as possible, the only viable way of scoring/attacking would be looking for headers/aerial opportunities via service from wingbacks. This is NOT where our strength lies.

Going forward, I'd like to Kane to go back to playing a deeper role and spraying balls to our wingbacks and then having Son/Lucas making runs into the box. This is how we're going to win under Conte's system.

EXCLUSIVE: Man United's board didn't think their stars could adapt to Antonio Conte's style, they fear a lack of leaders in the squad - and Ralf Rangnick ISN'T on their three-man list for the full-time job

  • Man United decided against an approach for Antonio Conte due to his style
  • The Italian was out of work when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was struggling at United
  • German Ralf Rangnick was later appointed interim manager at Old Trafford
  • But the 63-year-old will not continue as United's manager beyond May
  • Mauricio Pochettino, Erik Ten Hag and Brendan Rodgers are under consideration
  • The club's board also have a concern that the Red Devils squad lacks leaders
Manchester United decided against an approach for Premier League winner Antonio Conte after deciding his style of precise and exact micro-coaching would not be suited to the players at Old Trafford.

Conte – who won the title with Chelsea in 2017 – was out of work at the start of the winter as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer struggled at United. The 52-year-old eventually joined Tottenham in November.

United sacked Solskjaer soon after and replaced him with interim coach Ralf Rangnick but it is understood that the club’s football department took a long look at Conte before deciding not to make a move.

Sources at United have told Sportsmail that Conte is recognised as a great coach but one whose demands on players to carry out minute and exact instructions may have proved unsuited to the squad at Old Trafford.

A United source said: ‘If Conte tells a player to do six things then he wants to see them do all six immediately.

'He wants to be able to programme players to the minute details. We were not sure that was a great fit for us.’

Rangnick is now six games in to his spell at United and is yet to bring about significant improvement. His team lost at home to Wolves in the Premier League on Monday.

United have faith in the German and he will definitely be invited to take on a two-year consultancy at the season’s end even if his own results have not been great by then.

At Old Trafford there is an acceptance that Rangnick can only exert so much authority over United’s players given that they know he will not be their manager beyond May.

More worryingly, United’s board have a concern that the squad, in common with some other clubs, lacks leaders. This is something they plan to address in the transfer market summer.

Discussions over Solskjaer’s long-term successor are ongoing with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag under consideration as well as Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers. Rangnick himself is not a prominent candidate.

Meanwhile, United confirmed today that Richard Arnold will step up to succeed outgoing executive vice chairman Ed Woodward at the end of the month.

Arnold has worked underneath Woodward as Group Managing Director the last eight years. He will now become CEO.

Woodward resigned at the time plans for a European Super League collapsed last April but has been continuing in the role until a successor was appointed.

Woodward, 50, will now seek another job in football and has not ruled out working for another club.

Looks like their is no plan to back Conte so how long do the rest of you think he will be at Spurs I reckon he will quit two days before next season after Levy fails to back him in the summer. I think there is very possibility of a relegation fight on our hands next season because let’s face it Levy and ENIC will never change and we will go into next season with a largely unchanged squad.

We are a week into the transfer window where the closest club to signing Vlahovic is Woolwich. We may sign a right wing back to convert into a wing back. We do not sound close to signing anyone.

Life through a twitter-lense is hella stressful it seems! :sonhmm:

Unless you started supporting this club a week ago you must have known that we would not bring in anyone within the first week or two.
As for names linked again why are we expecting top class signings, Conte will want that but he won't get that because of how we operate.
There maybe a loan signing or two come in during January or a out of contract like Erikson which might help us but other than that if your expecting big things you will be let down.
