Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You're missing the point entirely.

You saying you'd rather have started with the Middlesbrough squad last night?
I think we both know that football isn’t as black and white as : better squad always beats worse squad.

What is black and white though is that we’ve constantly been signing players who hide in games like this, or the Burnley game, or the game away to Zagreb last year, or the game against Colchester under Poch.

The signings you listed haven’t been good enough and each year we are getting worse and worse. What point am I missing exactly? We’ve wasted an extortionate amount of money making our squad worse, how are the people overseeing that not clowns?

It's not that conveniently B&W; no matter how much you want it to boil down too "Levy is a tight cunt".

As already pointed out we've had 19 new players since Poch kicked off his ill fated last season (roughtly 300m spent).

.....And it's sure as fuck that some of the management (in various aspects) has left a lot to be desired during that same period too.

Some recruitment decisions has been highly detrimental too.
It has still left us with the worst midfield pairing I have seen last night. The fact is the way Hojberg and Winks are playing I am thinking why did we sell Sissoko at least he could drive the ball forward and was relatively pacey compared to these two.

Fair do's, if that's your opinion. I'd disagree, but then as they say life would be boring if we all agreed on everything all the time.

I personally think, if as a manager you are struggling for options in order to play a certain way then you need to get creative. Don't play both of them. Make Harry play CM put Sonny up top, let Sess be a WF. There are *always* options. But to carry on playing that way no matter who you face is poor as far as I'm concerned.
True there are options. Maybe beating leeds made him feel he should let the same fools get some chemistry going but us fans have been here longer than Conte to know these players and their (lack of) capabilities.

Still these options wont make too much of a difference (it didnt for any previous managers) when the personnel (in CM especially) are not good enough for a premier league club.

I've not for a second claimed it was.... Quite the opposite.

Conversely, those claiming that we have 2 shit MFs therefore it was inevitable that we'd lose are though.

"Missing" was perhaps the wrong word.

'Purposely overlooking' my point may be more appropriate.

Aside from Winks, that same team just beat Man City; ergo the component quality is there. One needs to dig a bit deeper into why we lost last night rather than indulge their confirmation bias.

3 options:

Hugo
Rom / Dier / Davies
Berg / PEH / Kulu / Winks / Reg
Son / Kane

Hugo
Rom / Rodon / Davies
Doh / Dier / PEH / Sess
Kulu / Kane / Son

Hugo
Emerson / Rom / Dier / Reg
PEH / Winks
Berg / Kulu / Son
Kane

I wonder if the problem with Conte not yet getting any traction with this team is that he just Isn’t used to managing such a poor bunch of players.
He has a mindset that he can do certain things with his team but here at Spurs it’s just not happening because our players cannot actually do what Conte wants, simply because they are just not good enough players.

It would be a similar issue with Pep if we had him, only used to elite players. Hard as it is for me to say it’s why Klopp is the best manager in the world, can with the best but also average when he has too but even Klopp I would imagine wouldn’t be happy with some of our players at times.

Because Kane had a 10/10 game (which isn't going to happen most weeks) and we played as the underdog, much the way Palace did against them. It doesn't show the real quality of the squad and was a fun result in isolation but nothing to build from.

Squad is rubbish. Two players in Kane & Son who could make a case for starting for any side in the league, but the entire rest of it have massive flaws or are outright bad players who wouldn't start for most teams in the division.

Often heard this.
On what basis would life be boring if everyone agreed with each other?
I personally think the world would be a much better place if we all agreed on everything.

You're making the fatal mistake of rating us based on a 6th choice MF duo.... This does next to nothing in terms of establishing a deeper point...... Liverpool played a makeshift MF against us and we ran them ragged and should have beaten them. On the flipside; B'cur & PEH just gave Man City a torrid time.... We just battered Leeds with Winks & PEH together.

PEH & Winks = shite isn't the convenient answer to last night that you want it to be.

Well I disagree. And a bloody good job too. Be a bit boring if we all agreed all the time wouldn't it?

Seriously though. (And I don't know if you were being serious) there wouldn't be much to talk about on here for a start would there?

Poster 1: We're shit and all our players are shit. Our chairman's a bald, tight cunt who doesn't know one end of a football from another. Nice stadium though.

Poster 2: Agreed

Poster 3: Agreed

Poster 4: Agreed.......

Bit boring, isn't it?

It's been mentioned before.

Give Conte our squad of 5 years ago and we win trophies. Better in that regard than Pochettino and maybe it's clear he adds value at the top end.

Build a team from average to very good I am unsure he is either cut-out for or wants to do.

Right manager possibly but at the wrong time.

I prefer a Potter or Rodgers-type or one or two others because we need a rebuild without the weekly drama and we need player development as much as plundering the transfer market.

As per Airfixx Airfixx 's argument. Are you honestly saying that Middlesbrough have better options than us? Anywhere on the pitch? Johnny Howson, who absolutely ran the game is a 33 year old Norwich reject. Think about it. Not good enough for Norwich.

This group of players isn't very good but think they are. Middlesbrough's know what they are and worked with it, they ran their hearts out, competed for every tackle for second ball, and won through because of that. Ours may have had more ability, but not enough to coast through the game which is what most of them seemed to fancy. We have a group of players who are below mediocre but think they're too good to turn up at the likes of Burnley or Middlesbrough and battle for games.

Not solely.... All but to a man they all performed much better than they did last night.

You're going WAY overboard. Squad needs improvement.....

"Most teams" - Meh...... You and i both know that's a gross exaggeration.

We have a top manager; he as yet seems to be struggling to draw the same from our lot on a regular basis.

Why isn't our bad-ass (tm) manager chopping this ego problem down to size?

(I'm not trying to exclusively pin our struggles onto any one factor, but it's a fair question.)
