Don't even think we need to be that clever in the Jan TW to upgrade on some of our positions,

It would be wonderful if we pulled a blinder like last Jan but i wouldn’t take it for granted.... Ergo "tricky" - (See player availability).

this window is essentially the last one until his contract is up anyway, no way we back him without him signing after Jan.

Contract signing can take place any time up to late May before it rocks the boat.......

Fab should be scouting hard before then regardless.

We ought to be planning for the next coach going into the Summer if he isn't signalling any intention of staying on after Jan, that would be 3 windows where if we provide him what he wants in Jan then he would have been backed 100%

If he's stringing the club along after Jan then we gotta move on and look for someone else...succession planning and all that.

Nah, you're alright thanks.

I've read the article but there doesn't seem to be a source to say that Tottenham plan to tie Conte down to a new contract, ie it's just the Daily Mail speculating by the looks of it.

What he did at Inter was a big overhaul and a title in the 2nd full season.
first, this isnt Italy and second, Inter is the most valuable club in Italy according to the inter web. We will never spend like they spent in that second year. He will always be dealing with smaller budgets than 4-6 other teams now that New Castle has monopoly money owners. Maybe he wins an FA or EFL cup, but the league isn't likely to be within reach

The point of my post wasn't to reassure peeps that he'll def. win the league..... .. Just that the scale of squad overhaul is achievable given the time similar frames involved and the 2 windows he's already had here.

Contingency is never a bad thing but I full expect any new deal to get done after Jan.

Sami Mokbel is a reliable journo, he wouldn't put it out unless he's sure of it.
OK well we'll see.

The fact that Conte is still residing in a hotel makes me wonder that he's not planning on staying long. If it ends up that he does sign a longer contract I just hope that he gets better defenders ASAP. That way at least we have a better chance of winning matches from a low block/counter attacking starting point.

The hotel thing doesn't concern me in the slightest...... He pressumably doesn't want to uproot his daughter for the sake of what was an 18 month contract. In which case we're talking a man with the wealth to have charter/pvt flights to visit whenever he chooses; even if it is only an overnight visit.... If he signs a new deal he'll either opt to continue as was or invest in a London property (if indeed he doesn't own one already from his time at the Chavs.).

Living in a hotel is the sort of thing a travelling person does, is it not?

But he can choose not to trigger it if he would rather have Poch back.

....And? That doesn't really pertain to what you just said/enquired.

Of course we don't have to extend if we don't want.......... Similarly we aren't gonna put ourselves in a position where Conte can extend against our will. That would be madness.

If we want and Conte agrees then an agreement will be reached.

I'm not sure you're really thinking about the contractual or commitment aspects of anything here... More just that you're wistfully dreaming about scenarios where Poch comes back.
