Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Look, we have been down this road before many times haven't we though?

The last season with Poch (CL run aside) we were all saying the same thing "He doesn't change anything" "Shit formation" "Never makes a sub" all the things we are saying about Conte.

We were getting dominated by teams towards the end of his run. Then skip forward a few, Jose comes.

Started well and as time goes on, same complaints, same EXACT complaints.

Now Conte, started well, ended last season in the top four, this year, same complaints. Isn't flexible, bad subs, shit formation etc.

Look, the reality imo is this, every manager we get seems to descend into some form of madness after the first season, shit starts going haywire and all the fans start throwing barbs at the manager and players and yet the thing that is CONSTANTLY overlooked is what impact things behind the scenes are having on everything.

Our owners don't know how to run a football club, that much is evident, they have no plan, they have no solution and I imagine that behind that curtain the lack of any cohesion creates a pretty poor foundation for success.

If I was a betting man I imagine it leaks on to the manager and the players and I think the number one priority is to remove the true rot from this football club and that rot is ENIC.

We are not an entertainment venue or an infrastructure project in the main, first and foremost we are a football club.

So yes, whilst I agree that on a micro scale, game to game, the manager and players should and could be doing better but I think the bigger picture is more important and has more impact than people care to admit.

Levy and Enic ARE the problem.

Motivation is such an underrated aspect of all professional endeavours. I'm not a psychic but so many of our players seem unhappy, right from the get go to to post match. Where is our team spirit. I wonder if life under the Conte-Levy era is miserable and players are just picking up a cheque.

When I saw the Woolwich team huddles it made me sad and jealous. I hate that. We used to have that togetherness.
There's definitely an element of this at play.

Ventrone was the good cop to Conte's bad cop. And every player was said to love him like a grandfather. Now Ventrone is dead and Conte doesn't have that good cop next to him. Vibes are probably very much off backstage.

Jose's best years was when he had his one assistant that was his good cop, that left during his United spell. And Ferguson also had some assistants that acted as the good cop to his bad cop routine.

I keep seeing calls for Poch ffs.

Look, I love Poch, I love how much he loves the club but him coming back under this ownership would just be a complete disaster.

Not only because he would be returning to some players who already saw the back of him with no success to speak of, but also because the owners would let him down, yet again.

The only way I would even consider the idea of Poch coming back is if we had new owners.
This is basically how I feel.

A Poch return feels like something that will eventually happen: but probably just the once. I don't want that wasted on working under Levy again and being let down in the same way. Too much love for Poch to see him drafted in as a human shield for ENIC.

Yep changing the manager will do nothing, might get a short boost of better quality football but would soon fall apart

And make no mistake, that's exactly what it would be, Levy knows that as well. The love the supporters have for him would take some sting away from the owners and Levy and ENIC would hide behind that and Poch until it goes bad (again.)

Quite. His (obvious) love for the club would be the reason he took the job rather than pure sense.

Honestly, if Conte walked tomorrow I think it'd be wiser to hire Tuchel.

I totally agree with this. But the problem is Conte has 4 months left, quite possibly a lot less with a few more defeats. ENIC have to go now its so obvious, but i doubt Conte will be their last manager sadly.

Unless there's a 'club announcement' tomorrow, it'll surely drag on for at least another month.

19th Jan - Man City (A)
23rd Jan - Fulham (A)
28th Jan - Preston (A) in the FA cup
5th Feb - Man City (H)

In there, I can imagine both City games are free passes of sorts - I'd say we'll be tonked but knowing our luck we'll take points from both games and help hand Woolwich the title.

You'd imagine the Fulham and Preston games will both be wins.

The next 'sackable' match I could see on the horizon would be against Leicester on the 11th of Feb.

Then you’d get the “oh not another Ex Chav manager “ but you’re right and Potter will be available soon anyway!

Bollocks I’m off to bed!!

Another weekend ruined by these cunts!

Clough and Peter Taylor too, right?

Mate I’ll have some of whatever you’ve been drinking.

I think it could be Fulham if we lose City and that. If not possibly limp on maybe until Milan mid Feb. I just think the team has gone, we've seen it all so many times before when a manager is coming to the end. I think he needs some big results to make it to the end of the season, no way he is staying longer than that. Think he's checked out.

Conte's CL record is poor too. I could see us getting done by Milan and that being the trigger point.

And just to be clear, I'm not a Conte-hater. I despise the way our squad (despite being made up of different players at times) has repeatedly gone to shit and catalysed a managerial change. Much in the same way that they'll run about like headless chickens and suddenly remember mid-match that they can play football.

A lot of rot to clear out.

Same with Gerrard and Mick Beale too

Does look like losing to Preston ( which is likely given our tendency for such things ) and Milan to exit the Champions League will be the end for Conte. A bit of a shame really, but actually after today, I don’t much give a shit about the status of a multi millionaire who got schooled by Pep’s fluffer Arteta.

Chris Houghton for me. I’m done with the pretence. Get a football man in. Get a Spurs man in and if we are going to be 5-8th forever more at least let’s see some bloody tactical nous and a bit of football.

Been very reluctant to blame Conte but based on his praise of woolwich after the game, fuck him.

He needs to step down.

He’s right that the club don’t have what it takes but he’s also been a fucking coward against the big clubs. No fight, no balls.
