Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I read the article on the emotional impact on Conte after the loss of 3 friends. Plus being apart from his family.
I also recently found out that Lee Evans the comedian decided to retire in 2014 aged 50. He wanted to spend time with his wife and daughter after becoming financially secure and the death of his manager at 53.

Whilst it irritates me that the clubs progress is in jeopardy due to the instability Conte may be causing.....I think I understand.
Levy's causing it, not Conte, he brought him in on an 18 month contract after the shit show that was Jose and Nuno. If you want stability, why would you do that?

And mostly because none of the players had respect for our previous manager and the one before that was also well past his sell by date.

Conte is not justifying the alleged 15 million pounds per year in my book. Nowhere near.
I think he justified it last season by getting us top 4 , this season we have been underperforming but I still think with a few players now we could get top 4 and have a proper go at the FA cup, as shite as this season has been, it still has the potential to be one of our best under ENIC! Granted the bar has been set very low , but we are still in 2 cups, and still with a shout for top 4!
My biggest annoyance with Conte though is he refuses to adapt, even when we have key players injured so his system wont work, he plays tit anyway! Why cant he just be more adaptable?

And who appointed the previous managers?

I don't give a fuck what he's on personally but he more than justified it financially by getting top 4 in his first 6 months.

My biggest gripe with guys like Conte and Mourinho is when the top players are out, they play very conservatively and then blame their top players being out for not winning. They are not guys who are going to make a run to the CL final with Kane being out. Or beat Barca 4-0 with 2 of your top players out. I miss that hair on fire intensity where you just blitz teams and anything is possible.

In hindsight we should not.

But Levy is most likely desperate to win something with Kane. So he goes for the closest available win now manager that is available.
Who gets him top 4 from a league position of 9th, then starts the next season like a train (23 points from 10 games) only to see the wheels come off when he lost every meaningful forward player to injury except Kane. Plus his best CM and CB.

Conte gets results, we've seen it before and we've seen it at Spurs in his first few months.

We've had a lot more than 2 players out and it's showed. Liverpool too have been decimated by injuries and look what's happened this year. They're not miracle workers.

Fine, then Levy should take responsibility for that and back him whilst convincing him to stay for longer.
If Conte wants out for personal reasons I doubt any promises from Levy would work.
How would Levy look if he sacked Conte right now ?
Potentially it's a difficult set of circumstances.
We have had injuries that have affected our performances. Conte may have been too rigid with his system. He is not blameless.

I'm on the fence with this one. If Conte needs help and support I would lean towards that.

PointToPatrik PointToPatrik thanks for your post, mate, have to admit I know very little about Arne Slot at Feyenoord but their Europa League final run was pretty impressive.

Maybe the solution is to ride out the rest of the season and look to get someone in in the summer. Surely it shouldn't be hard for us to attract the likes of Slot from the Dutch league in summer?

Depends on how wedded to the Feyenoord project that Slot is I guess.

I do think that a manager from a top club in the Netherlands or Portugal could suit our position in the Prem pecking order well on the whole however.

They'd be used to fighting at the top of their respective league table. But also used to players being sold from time to time and having to rotate in new players as a result.

Spurs are filthy rich. But our policy is still build around selling to compliment our coffers unlike City. So having someone used to that could definitely be helpful.

But Conte seems totally checked out so it may be best for all parties to break it up now.
