You forgot Gil and Spence

I'm not sure about Gil (if I'm being toetally honest). Spence - yes, it did occur to me after but I couldn't be fucked to edit.

Sometimes I think Conte is the only one that actually cares we don't win anything.

What he said on Sunday, was spot on. The players have been to comfortable, for too long. All Conte wants to to do is win, which is exactly what the fan base wants too.

As a Tottenham Hotspur fan, that's the passion I want to see when it comes to winning.

Every year we shit the bed against some low tier club. It's not like were getting kicked out every year by Man utd, City, Liverpool...

The players need to take acountability, but instead, once again, it's the managers fault.

Go figure.

Money spent is amost a moot point now.

For a multitude of clusterfucking reasons Spurs are about to end another season without the manager they started with.

Another season without getting any closer to where Poch was when he was criminally underfunded.

There is clearly a massive cultural problem in the football club that ENIC built. There is no evidence that they have the will or knowledge to fix it.

Yes these conversations certainly do seem passe at this point.

The glamour of hope from the Goon/Liverpool spend mentioned over the last few pages is that those levels spend are entirely within reach for us.

Yes, but we'd need to nail the budget spend they did and then do it without the other advantages they get.

Not impossible but would need a massive shift from top to bottom at the club. Not just a new manager.

You’re not wrong. This is why I’m conflicted. I don’t think anything Conte said is wrong and it probably needed to be said. However he does shoulder some of the blame for the results this year. Also, style wise I’ve never been a huge fan. Not necessarily the formation, but more the intent and well lack of control in games. As well as poor rotation, and substitutions consistently. Also, clearly not a long-term kind of manager when that’s what we need right now. So clearly we are gonna part ways. But I do hate that this would be the reason why, because he’s not wrong.

However, 4 seasons in a row we’ve had a manager fired so clearly there’s a player problem more than anything. I wish we would just pick a damn long term manager and support them and get rid of the characters that they don’t want. Commit to riding out the highs and lows. The problem is, comparing us to Woolwich, we would have fired Arteta at the beginning of last year, rather than getting rid of the crap players, and started all over.

When it has been the same problem, year after, year after, after year, after year for last 20 years. Losing to clubs we should not be losing too, getting kicked out of League cups and European cups to clubs we should be winning against. And it happens every year.

Perhaps we needed someone to step up, and tell as it is and not give a fuck about proper ethics.

Conte knew his time was up, long before his press conference. Hopefully the next manager can "turn things around", but I think Tottenham need a shack up in the dressing room, which is what Conte was getting at.

My only problem with this is that I thought we had done / were doing this?

If we go back a few years, the 'bad apples' (whether that be disrespectful, disruptive, just not taking it seriously enough, or just not good enough) then and since included Danny Rose, Aurier, Sissoko, Winks, Deli, N'Dombele, Lo Celso, all of whom are now gone (or at least loaned out in some cases). Didn't most people on here agree that those players were the top priorities to get rid of in the last few years? We can't sell all the players in the entire squad in a 3/4 year period!

Maybe I'm naive, but I honestly thought most of the departures in recent years would ultimately have made us better as long as they were replaced with quality, and isn't the latter actually the issue?

Genuine question - putting ENIC, Levy and Conte aside for a moment and concentrating just on the players, do people think our problem is more about long-term bad influences still in the squad, or shorter / medium term (say last 3-4 years) recruitment of players coming into the squad (either not good enough or not right positions)? For me, it's been more the latter than the former... for example, I know all the old adages about what ifs etc, but you do have to wonder where we would be right now if N'Dombele had been the world class midfielder he had the potential to be, and we'd signed a quality CD at the same time... :(

I don't really know what I'm talking about, but like most, I'll also give you my view anyway:

I don't like the guy's football, it's pragmatic, inflexible, strategically stubborn and predictable.

However, he gets results *when* the team actually turns up. And the games we've lost, we've *mostly* lost because the players were shit, not due to managerial error (there have been several games where it was on him, but that's to be expected). The cup runs aside, I don't think he's done too much wrong - the cups were an unmitigated disaster, no argument from me. It's clear where our priorities are.

Because of that, I believe that kicking him out won't help in the long run. So, I hope he stays. I hope he shakes up the squad (he won't, not sure why though).

If he goes, I hope we get a growth-mindset manager who isn't afraid to play the youth and develop for the future, because I really can't take any more 'serial winners' (being either hamstrung or simply over-hyped phonies). I could handle Poch for the play style, and maybe he'd be backed more, who knows?

Different times. But Keith Burkinshaw said he was leaving and a depleted team/squad went on to win a European trophy in his final game. The excuse of “oh Conte might be gone, I can’t concentrate” ( or whatever it is today ) just don’t work for me.
Because Graham Roberts Paul Miller Steve Perrymen were not man babies that needed their hands held. We went from actual blokes like Dembele Vertonghen Alderweireld to fake hard men like Hojbjerg and Deir and we have been on the slide ever since...

They've needed a 'shake up' in the dressing room for fucking years, the shake up required is too expensive so ENIC keep the managerial merry-go-round spinning in the hope that some other poor cunt can turn a mostly bunch of stale, sub-par options (that were likely not anyone's 1st choice and usually financially driven signings above all else IMO) into a Top 4 squad and get more of that lovely dosh from CL qualification.

Quite right. An absolute disgrace.
