Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Conte is a coach, who maybe in a similair way to Tuchel, when he isn't focused on his clubs performance in a transfer window, and has to knuckle down with what he has, can be close to a miracle worker. Getting otherwise un exceptional players to a high level. His work with the Italian National Team (Huge over achievement with a poor side), Chelsea in his first season (Moses and Alonso at wing back) and even his first 7 months with us are the best examples of this.

However, he makes his own problems because he is neurotic. And while I'll join everyone in criticism of the Spurs board... We're far from the only club where he kicked off.. That's what he does. He does it everywhere and the clock is ticking for him to do it at Napoli.

However, he'll win a trophy there. Maybe even a title. Again making us the outlier in a managers career.

Some people respect managers who have won the Premier League while others respect managers who have won the Scottish League.
This isn't an ange vs conte thing.

What's the quote about our fans being cuckolds? Creaming themselves over someone who only ever saw spurs as a stopgap until something better came along. As right as he was about the club and it's owners, his heart was never really in it and he thought he was better than us. Might be alright for some but it's not for me.

I knew this when I found out he was living in a hotel.

I didn't rate Conte tbh. We had a great spell under him where we defended well and Son was in the form of his life. Don't think we appreciate just how good Son was that season, he carried us into the Top 4 on his own.

Our tactics never felt great under Conte, we were on the backfoot alot. Even that season when we made top 4, I remember us going to Burnley with a back 5, creating absolutely nothing and losing 1-0. We did go on a good run after that, woolwich fell apart and we managed to fall into the top 4. But overall the football and performances weren't great. Son was just scoring for fun on the counter so the results were good
As you say post Burnley in his first season we were good, and I actually liked watching us play, I disagree that we fell into top 4, we absolutely deserved it. I genuinely thought his 2nd season would be great, he outspent Mourinho making him the most financially backed manager in our entire history. But we were shit. He was shit. The football was some of the worst I’ve seen us ever play. He bottled it. He’s a cunt.

Conte is clearly a very good coach, who unlike Mourinho is still at the top of his game. He did great for us taking over and getting us 4th and we played some great football. Said elsewhere for 3 or so months its the only time we've looked a serious, proper side in the last 6 years. I have no idea what happened over that summer, i'm guessing he had the hump about players purchased or not purchased and it was clear he had lost interest pretty early the following season. Shame really, he was never long term but 22/23 should have really set us up to be challengers.

I couldn't stand the runt from that slapping incident at Chelsea and yes he was too big for our little meandering club and it all went south but he got us 4th a feat beyond our current caretaker (IMHO)

People misunderstood Conte imo. I actually appreciated his rant after Southampton away. Don't get me wrong the football was shit and he frustrated me, and 'Arry would've done better against Milan at home, but Romero let him down and got sent off in that game, Richarlison was a flop all season long, he had health issues and a close friend dying, and he ultimately left us in 4th in the league, which was a miracle when he took over. Nobody since has done better.

He's a good coach but he could walk Serie A this season and I wouldn't miss him one bit.

Can you imagine the outrage on here if we were linked with Lukaku, McTominay and Gilmour?

Honestly if he wins a Scudetto with those three it'll be a great accomplishment but it will also say a lot about the quality of Serie A.

The Conte era destroyed my excitement for football so much it still lingers now.

Whilst he did well to claw a top 4 finish, a top 4 finish means very little to me, especially when our last Champions League exit is probably the most pathetic attempt from a Spurs side I have ever seen.

...And in no small part thanks to to Conte.

We were linked with McTominay when Conte was here

I think his behavior was shameful. I'm very critical of Spurs but Conte is different. Had he WANTED to stay he'd have won something. He WANTED to go home. He was done the bereavements and illness is why he effectively quit not the club. The AC Milan game was as close to surrender as you will see. Lost all respect for him as a man during his tenure and the football was so toxic that he is still having an influence in how willing people are to buy into Postecoglou's nativity. Conte and Spurs was always a shoutgun marriage. Iraola, Terzic, Alonso, Potter, I think if Postecoglou fails we could a should be brave enough to any of them a go. I think all of whom are now more qualified than Ange when we hired him.

That's what I think as well.

Conte had things trending in the right direction. He only takes over in November, we finish fourth, and third in wins. Not everything was great but this was all after a dreadful start.

The final 16 matches, starting with the 3-2 win away at City, we're winners of 11 and only 3 defeats. The bow was tied on the finish by Woolwich being routed off and we're in the CL places.

That was the best feeling stretch and the best moment since the Poch era, for me anyway.
