I was a bit disappointed with him Thursday. I thought we might see him get forward and contribute a bit more to offensive transitions, the way Udogie does, but he didn't really contribute much to the game offensively (until right at the end).

He seemed to be under a lot of pressure, and also reluctant to get too far forward.
Really good ball skills and nice cross towards the end.
He's a 6 playing at LB at the age of 18 after being a bit part player this (his first) season. He really shouldn't be playing there, he's never played LB before according to the manager.
Fair point. I would have rather seen Spence play at FB in these games TBH.
Why do you think it is that he mostly played as RB for Leeds and is now getting minutes as a FB for us, rather than being used in one of the three midfield remits, even as a sub?
Archie's minutes / development considered more important than Djed's I guess. It snowballed a bit because squad limitations meant Spence got cut from the EL squad, then at the key time when Spence could have started spelling Porro and Udogie in PL matches, he picked up a niggle in training.
Fair enough. I thought he was alright. Playing fullback in our team is the hardest position.
One on one defending was brilliant today
I think he is going to be a midfielder in the end, but we stick him in anywhere there seems to be a gap. I hope we don't mess him up, he is a real talent.

I said it last week, there’s a player in there, he’s just a work in progress.
He did well I thought, for an 18 year old he is doing really well. One of our only players who plays with heart.

It didn't; but not due to any fault of Gray.
I don't think he gave us anything offensively and wasn't exactly good defensively.
I would definitely rather have seen Spence given an hour, especially against this type of team.
Wasn't especially bad either....... Yet of our other 3 full-time actual defenders:

Udogie was just rubbish.
I'd rather have seen Spence start too; but that's not a cross for Gray to bear.

He's young and the step up from the championship to the prem ain't easy, let alone at 18?.. and stepping into a team that's form is .. stuttering, isn't helping him. .. and wtf ang is doing in playing him at lb in a position he's never played in Infront of Reggie, who has actually NEVER been that bad, is baffling...
