Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

From my seat close to the touchline, I saw a lot of the good stuff Archie did in the first half. And so did the opposition, he took a nasty knock and he took a while to shake it off.
So much potential to be a star.

Interested to see how he gets on at cb, if that's where he plays today. Probably not ideal that he's not playing in his favoured position, but he has a good skillset for cb, a bit like Scalvini from Atalanta in frame and tech.

I know fuck all about top level football personally. Highest level of my game ever was to play as a no-nonsense, ball-clearing CB for my high school in some county-league. So not pretending to be a first-hand expert here or something.

But I just feel there is something to Archie Gray. Somehow I see that his close control and moving on the ball, his constant alertness and ability to change direction. His movement... there is some specific quality that he has about him. So I absolutely sense that he has potential to become special player for us in the future. And then maybe paying 40 mil for 18 yo I never knew about might turn out to be brilliant piece of business.

Very talented player, and probably the most polished of our youngsters. He's not a fullback though, and I feel like playing him there as a stopgap is kind of a waste of his development.

At this age getting match practice is very important for Gray, no matter where he plays. By playing your players out position they can develop all-round skills they otherwise wouldn't acquire.
Two Spurs supers-stars, Bale and Modric, both started their Spurs career out of position: Bale at LB and Modric on the wing.

It's true that all minutes are good, but I would prefer to see him in the midfield, which is his true position.
