Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I decided to watch back Bournemouth because I never saw it.

2 high profile errors from Bissouma but actually played ok other than that. Subbed

Bentancur first half one of the worst halves I’ve seen from a Spurs CM in a while.

I really don’t get what it will take for Gray to get a chance in CM
Bissouma was on a yellow as well. He did, as you say, have a couple bad errors. It does make sense that he was subbed earlier than Bentancur at least.

I'd love to see Gray started at CDM. I can understand Ange not wanting to do that while he is still uncertain of Romero and VdVs fitness though. Maybe if they can get and stay fit we'll see it before the end of the season.

If he plays Gray in midfield and one of either Romero or VDV gets injured it’s simple, just drop Gray back so that is no reason not to play him in midfield.

Biss is a man down. Get Gray in midfield now every game till the end of the season and let him make that position his own. Get Bergvall and Madders creating in front of him. It’s not as though we are solid when we have Biss,Sarr and Bentancur. It’s the system not the players that leave us wide open so we’re better having creative players on the pitch.

Like I said, Bentancur actually made worse mistakes imo and was the obvious first sub.

Both deserved to be subbed though

I think Gray finally IS ready for a DM role on Thursday, assuming two of VDV/Romero or Danso will start at the back...
I think the plan was to mould him into our new #6 along, by giving him the central defensive duties when called upon.

He could be the new Gary Mabbutt... Versatile and talented enough to excel in numerous positions.

Comfortable in Central midfield, and also in defence.

A midfielder who thinks like a defender, or a defender who thinks like a midfielder...
Either way, the boy is a special talent.

Gray called up to England U21s, will face France U21s (Tel and Odobert) in a week. Ex-spurs academy Cirkin also in the squad.

He was sluggish on the ball at times, including a few heavy touches in relatively dangerous areas , but I thought his overall defensive work was miles ahead of the work of some others that had previously been tried at DM.

His instinct to drop between the CBs works especially well with a CB like Romero who likes to regularly push further up the defensive line to disrupt opposing players. It was looking like a back 3/back 5 more often than not. Irrespective of what you think of a back 5 in a vacuum, I think we can all agree that this team needs some defensive solidity above anything else at the moment.

He should be the primary choice at DM going forward.

Basically, him and Bergvall can both play #6.

No need to put Biss or Bentancur there for the rest of the season.

We don't really know anymore about him than the day we signed him
He filled in as CB and played ok for a player doing that job. But - so what ?.We will.be fucked if he plays there next season
K ind of the same for fb ( atm)

He has only played one hour in midfield.
Essentially- he is nothing to get excited about - or despondent about. His transfer value has neither gone up or down. Bergvall's.on the other hand....
