Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Remember similar discussions about Sarr after his first season with us, some saying keep, some saying he needed a loan, some referencing the AC Milan performance, some the 6-1 defeat to Newcastle where he went off after 23 mins at 5-0 down. He started 2 PL games that season aged 20 and a couple of season's later and he got the winning assist in the Europa League final and just scored a 45 yard worldie against Woolwich (albeit in preseason). Gray's 19, he'll develop.
there were many on here saying skipp was better than sarr not too long ago.

That’s exactly what has felt missing from him as a midfielder. Push forward, drive into open space. He’s got all the technical ability he needs.

It’s been a mentality thing imo.

He’s had that since Leeds at 16/17 but the step up to the PL made him cautious.

If he’s doing that regularly against PL opponents plus the defensive awareness of playing CB and FB, that’s when we start to see the Yorkshire Busquets come out

His talent and maturity is there for all to see.

It's like some people don't think a 19 year old that's been playing in multiple positions is allowed to have lacklustre games here and there.
Modric and Son are two of the best players we have seen in a spurs shirt and they had many bad games their first season (playing in their position). Both had questions about their suitability for the PL.

Who knows how Gray will turn out but you’d think our fans would give young players time and the opportunity to work through rough patches.

He’s got everything you want in a DM imo. Technically good enough to play through pressure, passing range, defensive awareness and has the ability to drive the ball forwards

Im glad we got him a year of playing with Son as well.
He’s still way too timid. I was glad to see that Newcastle player punch him in the face off the ball

That’s the sort of thing he needs to dish out

I reckon palhinha can be a great influence

Pretty sure Brentford and Frank were reported as seeing him as a 6.

He played 6 today really but double pivot so less solo responsibility and more chance to play further forward
He didn’t play as the deepest mid until Bentancur went off. He was patrolling that left channel and had license to get ahead of the ball. He just looked much more comfortable than playing with his back to play receive the ball from CBs, etc.
