Kid needs a loan. Giving him the benefit of the doubt because of how well he did, under the circumstances, at CB last year. But he needs constant minutes at this level. Loan him to Brentford or Sunderland or something and let him get minutes, then reassess.

I didn't like the money spent on him at the time, but I watched a fair bit of him at Leeds and he looked very good.

Definitely more confident there's a player there than I am of Tel, who was shit on loan, was signed inexplicably, and continues to be shit.

He isn’t going to start for either of those teams

I bet we could play him instead of Palhinha this season and get just about the same results. JP was good today vs PSG but Gray I think could have done similarly well.

Ageee with you gray needs consistent time to improve- just look at what happened with poor Skipp who should have stayed at Norwich.

Paulie is light years ahead of Archie. Leicester fans really don’t rate skippy and similar with winks. They’re at their natural level of upper championship. Gray needs a loan at championship level in his natural position. Sporadic minutes as a utility man isn’t going to help him at this age.

He’s not good at anything. Anything at all. And that’d be fine if he was a proper athlete but he’s not. Weak, slow, stiff, just below average in all aspects.

I get he’s young but solely judging his performance levels and that alone, he’s nowhere near the standard.

Absolutely horrid use of money. Leeds have mugged us off majorly. Frank will be a miracle worker to get a Premier League starter out of this mug. Has journeyman written all over him

He isn’t near the standard yet. This place last season him and berg are second coming of Christ. He needs a loan playing every week in cm or dm in a 3 at championship level - we aren’t playing Azerbaijan or Hungarian teams in Europe this year. Worried he’s going to be kept on because we have fuck all HG players and have to fill in as a utility player. More worried if he’s going to be a 4th choice cm. Let the lad go out and be the main man getting 90 minutes every week.

But he's already proven he can hang at that level, he was in the PFA team of the year in his last year at Leeds.

A place in a promoted team, he's more than capable of, and of he can't get minutes there and doesn't improve, reassess and get rid of him. He'd have got heavy minutes at Brentford last year, they don't often pay £40m for players, and their scouting is leagues ahead of ours.

He looked fine as a roving 8 a couple games ago. I don’t think it’d take him long to get there under a good coach like Frank. Palhinha though I really hope is just a season loan and that we don’t sacrifice contracted player development too much for him except as necessary.

Brentford would never have paid 40M for him though.

We definitely got touched up there.

he’s very young and I don’t personally think he’s good enough at the moment to be starting 90 mins regularly for us in any position. He can do a job in a multiple positions for us and be handy. Personally think he needs to go out somewhere where he’s one of the star players at 18/19. If that’s championship or maybe a lower top flight team in Europe I’m not sure. Being our utility man is not going to help progress his career. If he’s 23/24 then yes but he needs 90 mins every week in midfield and not going to get it here this season.

That’s fair- I think Archie is ready to explode under Frank but I’d love if he can find regular time at the 6/8 somewhere too. He needs reg top level minutes as much as he needs good coaching.

I agree, but I don’t think he should be ahead of paulie, Sarr, bent, biss. I’d rather get another midfielder in and let him go out and play. Maybe the Ethan Ampadu route and a newly promoted serie a team? Or maybe slightly more established like Cagliari. Maybe they wouldn’t take him but that kind of level in a top European league where he’s guaranteed to start. Think he’ll be a great player but minutes is the most important thing I think at his age rather than coaching and sporadic minutes with us.

Looking good in the best team in the championship is miles from PL, I watch loads of Leeds with my uncle who supports them, where are the bids for bogle and firpo? They looked like prime Cafu and Carlos last season. It’s a huge difference.

Brentford would have been the better move for him short term. 95% of his time with us out of position/filling in with injury crisis. Would be interesting to see his minutes/position with Brentford had he gone there. I didn’t realise they’d gone in for him with this big bid under frank. It says a lot, maybe Archie isn’t going on loan for minutes this season.

Forgetting all the positional stuff and athleticism just don’t think he’s that talented on the ball. Again last night, has time with a dropping ball to take a touch but just hooks it aimlessly over his shoulder to an opposition player. 19 or not I don’t think real talented footballers do that or atleast needs believe in his ability a bit more if he has it.
