Player Archie Gray

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He should have stayed at Leeds for another year or 2. He’s nowhere near ready for what’s being expected if him.

That’s not his fault. It’s another example of this club being fucking inept at recruitment and player development.
Gray and Bergvall are absolutely ready for cameos and rotation appearances. However our recruitment failures and injury problems mean they're just expected to be our main men. Now the boo boys will be after them through no fault of their own.

Tragic.

Sarr was the emerging star, until he stalled. Bergvall was next, and now he’s falling out of favor. Gray has been the choice lately, but he seems stalled too.

It ain’t them.
Out of the 3 of them, Bergvall is the only one that has shown potential to suggest he could become a top top midfielder.

The other two? No chance. They’re just unserious players. Neither are a distant relation to ever becoming a top PL midfielder.

Agree with this. Sarr is a decent sub against tired legs.
Gray looks a very insipid player. I would rather one of our rivals had spent £35m on him
Bergvall has potential

This is what we do now. Take talent grind it down to simple essentials ( can run can tackle) drive out its instincts and then discard for a younger version to mess up. Its the opposite of what Pochettino was good at. I worry for Moore Byfeild Olusesi Meila.

Bergvall and Gray are about the same age as Bale and Kane were when our fans and club almost gave up on them btw, if not younger.

I'm not saying that's a sign they're the next big thing, but just reminding everyone just how young these kids are before we judge them. They shouldn't be in the position of being full time starters yet.

Interesting that Bentancur went to pieces and started going on random one man pressing missions when Gray went off. He clearly trusts Gray to put the yards in and thinks he needs to go on a mad one without him.

I just don't really know what he does well. He's not an amazing ball winner, he isn't beating players, he isn't picking out great passes. He's that player on FM who's in your squad with all skills around 13.

Assuming we actually prioritise and buy a CM (or two) in the summer/Jan, I really think we should be looking to loan Archie and let him play a full season as a CM in Germany or somewhere. He needs the consistent minutes but he's not currently good enough to be a regular starter for Spurs.

To get where we want to be we need two more top quality CM options and then have Bentancur, Bergvall, Sarr + 2 new players to choose from. Maybe even sell Sarr if we get a decent offer.

Then if/when Archie improves, bring him back to take over Bentancur's place in a season or two. Or sell him if he's not good enough.

Nailed it there bout cameos and rotation.

These young lads need a good seasoned pro around them, guiding them around the park.

Similar type to Jordan Henderson ,a quiet word here and there ,especially on the park where it matters.
Knowing when to press and when to tuck in
Picking up a jersey…simple balls …
Scanning at all times…

We have not got one lad out there that they can listen too when the going gets tough or they dont want to let down.
Looks like they just simply have to figure it out on the run…

Yep- these fans need to have a look at themselves. It's embarrassing blaming our young talent for Frank's short-comings.

We needed one such CM to guide them- and Bentacur and Palhinha are not it.

Yeah, i feel like right now we have 3 guys in Gray, Bergvall and Sarr - who despite some differences are filling squad in similar way (young, with potential, box to box midfielder, that can run). Only 2 is max in my opinion so one of them is surplus to requirements - unless we can convert Bergvall or Gray into deep playmaker (which we can agree is highly unlikely).

Agreed, except we have also seen numerous plsyers of their age fall by the wayside.

Bergvall and Gray, as someone mentioned are possibly fine as squad players. Starting? Maybe once in a while.

They are not our biggest issues and neither is it their fault, and shame on anyone who starts booing them.

100% agree. They're just cannibalising one another's minutes at the moment. Need to sell at least one to recoup some cash, open up a squad spot and allow the other two to get more minutes between them.

For me Sarr's the one to move on. You'd imagine we can get a tidy little profit for him as he's got talent and a hell of an engine, but Bergvall is clearly the better prospect of the two. And we spent too much money on Archie to give up on him yet.

They should be starting. The point of buying potential generational talents is to play them and let them grow. Bergvall was our best midfielder last year, Gray looks our best this year. Play them.
