Seriously, though, are we or rather have we become so? It extrapolates into the wider sense of spurs supporters at large as well. We used to be fun and champions league and having a laugh. Now we’re melting like cunts over the thought of Liverpool in the CL final, completely neglecting the fact that we’re likely to be the only London club in the CL next season, group of death - completed it mate, solidifying ourselves as a top 4 club WITHOUT PLAYING A SINGLE HOME MATCH, moving into the best stadium in all of England, home to the best players in the English national team.

Tottenham Hotspur today is so ridiculously beyond the wildest dreams any of us could have had 10 years ago. And yet it isn’t enough. So...have we become the cunty, revolting supporters of cunty, revolting clubs we used to loathe? Seriously.

No public votes, so no shame. No multi votes. Unless you’re a multi cult (save us Admin Admin I-won you’re our only hope). Have we become what we despised?

They have always been here, they were just more ashamed to voice their whines in the past. This summer will be unbearable, but next season will be the same - they'll be silent through most of the season and just raise their ugly mugs for the defeats.

Think most football supporters are delusional and also pretty hypocritical. Goes with the territory.

Right now expectations have been raised. Partly by our performances and partly by the manager and players official statements at various times.

A pre season vote had the majority thinking we would win the league. Delusional? Having a whole season at Wembley, a place we had really struggled to play at? You could say it was.

Thinking Toby will stay. Despite him not signing a new contract over two years of talks and clearly losing potential earnings on a weekly basis.
Add to this having a relatively low buy out clause about to come into play. Delusional? Or just having a profound belief in Toby’s love for our club as professed by his social media posts.

But IMHO it’s that belief and commitment fans (fanatics) provide to the overall spectacle of footballl. For instance the chant - “We’re by far the greatest team the world has ever seen”

No. No you’re not. But fans still sing it.

So let’s carry on being delusional and embrace it, there’s a very thin line between that and self belief when you are a football fan.

Some always have been, some are unfortunately becoming but I think (hope) the majority of us will be pleased with a top four and our champions league run away from home. Yes some performances have been sure (dier lol) but most have been pretty good.

Yes- we're all delusional on here, posting anonymously on an internet site like it fucking matters.
Agreed. Also none of us know even 1% of what people like poch know about football. We are a bunch of strangers on an internet forum..nothing more.
There's also far more people melting about melter's than there are melting about spurs.

I read the opening post twice and scanned the responses.

What fear we possess at times to be able to say what a load of twaddle.

I want to support ambition and aspiration because what are we without iit?

We are a fcuking big club with some super players and a manager who needs tp be as good as the pundits tell us he is.

I want to 'melt' if within this sphere of my existence I am struck by huge disappointment. Nothing wrong with that.

It's called passion within the football perspective. Fcuk the context of being better than other London clubs if we finish 5th.

I'm not

As we have got more successful more new fans have joined expecting us to walk the league which is ridiculous

I don't watch any sport for bragging rights as I have nothing to do with anything that goes on the pitch, but I watch it to be entertained, which is funny because a few Man United fans I'm friends with don't care about the football they just want to win, so they watch it for the bragging rights which is pathetic imo

I don't want to watch at the minimum 3500 minutes of shit just to have bragging rights over someone who like me has almost zero influence on what goes on, on the pitch

I watch things to be entertained

The media hyped us up so much to the point of if we don't win a game we might as well fold, their genuinely is a narrative around us because so many other fans don't like us, other fans along with the media have no influence on me what so ever but the same can't be said for all fans

And before someone says some bullshit, success is relative, if success is only measured by trophies then I guess Burnley have been awful this season, as have Cardiff only coming 2nd

I support my club and if Dave down the fucking pub thinks we're shit I don't care, if a pundit is selling our players I don't care, all that matters to me in football and in life is fact not opinions and possibilities

Flav Flav says it quite well, Football is an escapism, but with the over analysing state the world is in we will continue to get less joy out of things we did even only 10 years ago

Even down to the lowest league they want to win games and finish above where they did last year. It's a sport and it's competitive. So it's no wonder fans want us to improve, and we're so close to being at the top that there's not much more improving that can be done without being there.

That said I do think Spurs fans in general (not just on here) are getting a bit unrealistic about just how all of a sudden we should be bossing the PL and Champions League, and not putting our current success in proportion to what came in the thirty-odd years beforehand. I think the point-scoring and petty nature of internet discourse has a lot to do with this. The fans on Twitter and YouTube are the types who shout loudest and in the most unreasonable way, and I think they're the ones really setting the bar at a completely unreasonable place. The small level of fame you can get for being an internet football fan now is largely driving this, and it's bad for everyone.

It's human nature to want more.

I have no doubt that everyone is grateful to Pochettino and the players for where we are and how far we've come in the last 4 years.

No one wants to go backwards. What some don't understand is how business works, how we are run and that we can't just simply compete every season for the title against financial powerhouses like Man City, Man Utd and even Chelsea just because we ran Leicester and Chelsea close on year.

We are a team that at times do punch above our weight in terms of the personnel we have, the financial restrictions we find ourselves under and getting into the top four every season should always be the aim. If we finish 4th this season, on paper it looks like a season where we've gone backwards but the season isn't just made up of Tottenham Hotspur because Man City have improved on last season and so have Man Utd, two teams who have spent half a billion within the last few seasons alone.

I have absolutely no doubt if we had won the FA Cup this season but 5th, missed out on the Champions League and in the process lost a key player, people would still complain even though they've been asking for silverware for the past 10 or so years.
