Stadium Are the next generation of fans getting excluded from matchday experiences?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Was hoping that this season would be a bit different after the Ange hype died down, but if anything seems worse.

No tickets so far this season. Logged in at 9.12 today for 10am window and was 36,000th in the queue. By the time on site (11.30) there were only single seats dotted around for Wolves out of the PL games listed. Quite useless for anyone wanting to take their kid to the match.

Even if you hit the site literally on the point of opening and get c1,000th in the queue, the chance of getting a full price + concession pair is almost zero for PL matches. Can't really do Europa because A) It's a school night and B) Getting back from London to pick up my son and then back to London again in time is pretty hard. Moving League Cup kick-offs to 20:15 is another nail in the coffin.

Very much looking at jacking in my + membership next year after 30+ years a member. It was genuinely easier to get tickets when the capacity was 36,000. My son wouldn't have gone to one game last season if it hadn't been for a tip from Rocket Rocket (cheers).

Why don’t you just buy from the exchange? Same price and there’s generally loads available

Not for junior members, which is the main issue. Sure, they are available but you're paying full adult price.

What Spurs have done by selling most of the stadium as adult season tickets, is guaranteed themselves maximum price for seats regardless of who actually sits in them.

It is pure greed from Levy.

But two adults in the south via exchange are probably less than an adult and junior in say the east

I honestly think two tickets for £100 is ok, even if one is a junior

Of course in answer unless lucky enough to have wealthy parents or be in very well paid jobs.

It's why Sky et al do so very well, as do pubs who provide Matchday footy and get their food, offers and drinks right

And not just the young, who are being denied, although as age creeps up, a whole day being battered by the masses is good cause (at times) to stroll round the corner.

Looking at upcoming fixtures - Villa minimum is £62.50, even if there was two seats together, which there isn't.

Ipswich cheapest is £70.50, and again no pairs available.

Fulham, £62.50, no pairs.

etc.

Sure, you can log on every day and wait until they become available (and I have had some success with this) but it's an insane way for 'plus' members to have to go about getting a seat.

I've written to the new Fan representative for One Hotspur members and will let you lot know if I get a reply.

I ALWAYS got 2 (usually 4) together in the old ground when we had a 36k capacity. Impossible now.

I don't even bother trying anymore. I'm doing AZ because it is 'cheap' and easy to get tickets. It will be just my second game this season (a TFCer helped me out with a Brighton away ticket - I still haven't forgiven him).

A category A game is a £150 day out now. A couple of weeks back I flew to Northern Ireland, hired a car and did hospitality at a Portadown game for basically the same money (give or take a tenner).

Was home in time for match of the day.

I'm afraid it's basically a season ticket ground now and members, especially those who want junior tickets, are fighting a losing battle. There are about 42,000 ST holders and only about 7,000 available for the gazillion members, with possibly only 1,000 or so being released on the OH+ day. Trying to get an adult/junior pair is always going to be almost impossible.

As others have said, the Ticket Exchange is your best bet, but you can probably forget about junior tickets (are they even available on the Exchange?).

As a season ticket holder it doesn't affect me, but one thing I'd like to see is that the queue is not opened until exactly 10:00. If my doctor's surgery can do it, I'm sure the club could too. Maybe suggest that to the fan rep?

I’ve given up with the on sale dates for me and my boy, I just log on at about 9:25 on the Wednesday and get the resale tickets, paying the increased fee for my son. Limit that to 6 games a season and I can make it work quite comfortably - also I’ve no interest in the Cat A games whatsoever as they are guaranteed to be on TV and ridiculously expensive.

I’ve got a second son who is younger and just getting into football - I’m fucked when I have to try and get 3 together, they are like rocking horse shit. Will have to convince grandad to attend again as well and do 2 lots of 2’s

My sons been picking up tickets for cup games very easily.

So in answer to the question on the thread title.

As long as there are low value (ie not CL) cup games youngsters can go to Spurs games and the next generation of late teen/20 somethings can start to get the matchday bug too.

It's just not how it was. All ticket, all seaters killed the ability to meet up with a load of mates, stand together. Enjoy the social side as much as the football. Create chants. Bring the banter with the away fans. It's been a steady decline in experience since then. As is proved by the average age of the match day crowd. Granted there are dads that bring sons/daughters, but once they get past 16 or 17 the interest wains because they want to be with their mates which is literally impossible to achieve. I just don't think youngesters get the matchday bug going on their own/with 1 other mate.

Yep, there are too many season ticket holders. I knew when they brought all the new ones in that it would be a mistake. Stuck with it now.
