Stadium Are the next generation of fans getting excluded from matchday experiences?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

As others have said, the Ticket Exchange is your best bet, but you can probably forget about junior tickets (are they even available on the Exchange?).

They are, but like hens teeth.

As a season ticket holder it doesn't affect me, but one thing I'd like to see is that the queue is not opened until exactly 10:00.

This is a slightly odd one. They seem to open the queue at pretty random times at the moment - anytime from 8:30 to 9:30.

It's just not how it was. All ticket, all seaters killed the ability to meet up with a load of mates, stand together. Enjoy the social side as much as the football. Create chants. Bring the banter with the away fans. It's been a steady decline in experience since then. As is proved by the average age of the match day crowd. Granted there are dads that bring sons/daughters, but once they get past 16 or 17 the interest wains because they want to be with their mates which is literally impossible to achieve. I just don't think youngesters get the matchday bug going on their own/with 1 other mate.
Absolutely spot on. Couldn’t agree more. I’ve had similar conversations with old mates when reminiscing about our match attendance as kids and teens, when we first started going on our own, without parents etc. OK, it was early 70s but nothing better than meeting up with your mates about noon, getting to the ground, in early to pick your spot on the shelf and try and pick up the words of new songs so that you could join in and become word perfect. Then sing your heart out and out sing the opposition.

For me anyway as we got a bit older, it laid the foundation for — as you describe — simply bowling up to games, meeting up with mates, getting involved with the chanting, few beers etc and the whole social side of the day, not just the game. Better days in my opinion.

I don't know how much this would fix things. Rationally, those people who have STs now but wouldn't in a reduced ST scenario would just be increasing the demand for one-off tickets.

It would help, because a lot of ST holders don't go to all the matches. Some don't even go to most matches - they just put their ticket on the exchange (at full adult price) which then reduces the pool available to normal members, and heavily restricts the number of concessions available.

It's really more about getting the balance of ST holders vs Members and ensuring that the next generation can come to matches.

The other issue, and I guess the elephant in the room, is the number of day-trippers we see in the stands. I think that would drop quite a bit when Son leaves.

Sounds a good plan. I’d still love that you got your season ticket taken away if you don’t personally go to say five games a season. Would help build community too. Loads of people by me only attend max 50% of games.

Reading these threads always makes me grateful for my season ticket. I had to work for tickets as a member at the Lane (multiple devices/ browsers etc) but I only couldn’t get two tickets once (Madrid - though got returns on the day of the game since no one thought we’d win after the first leg).

5 sounds low to me, but maybe it's not.

I'd say you have to make it flexible to account for personal issues that may arise, so it'd need to be consecutive seasons.

One thing a lot of US teams do in this space is incorporate multiple levels of ticket packages. Full season tickets, half season tickets, and multi-match. I feel like the best thing Spurs could do is make limited 4 match PL ticket packages available to OH+ members after ST renewals, based on priority points. Multiple options with 2 Cat C + 2 Cat B, 1 Cat A + 3 Cat C, etc. Particularly sell them as pairs, 1 adult + 1 junior which would directly alleviate LLB Part Deux LLB Part Deux 's issues.

Semi agree. Maybe if you don’t go to say 8 of the games. With the tv companies changing fixture dates at such late notice nowadays it doesn’t give some people the chance to plan ahead.

The club love having so many season tickets though because it’s guaranteed income before the season even starts.

There are a whole subset of fans out there that have season tickets just to ensure they get to watch us against Woolwich, Chelsea, United and Liverpool and then don’t really give a shit after that. Personally I don’t mind this too much, as long as they put the tickets back through the exchange that then sell them on at face value - more or less the only way you can get a couple of seats together as a member these days.

I won’t get on my soap box tonight, but the biggest issue that needs addressing is away tickets

Yup - I still want to see the same faces round me though hence proposing they should be used by the season ticket holder. Appreciate I moved closer to the ground deliberately so it’s easier to go, miss at most a home game a season and do all cup games so I’m probably coming from a high bar. Agree about special circumstances but not convinced you should have a season ticket if you can’t commit to 75% league games.

Agree on aways but as you say - argument for another night :)

Yeah I’ve got one or two in the row in front of me in block 257. One of the guys is an absolute twat as well.

I don't know how it's done, but I personally know a couple of ST holders, who flogged their tickets for our game against the gooners, for £175 each. This is probably how the day-trippers manage to obtain any home, or away ticket that they desire, and is a further obstacle to members who attempt to purchase tickets through legitimate channels.

I guess if you say your phone broke or whatever the club might send you a print at home ticket? Away tickets sound more & more difficult to pass on mind.
