Competition Are we playing for 5th ?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We're just playing aren't we?
Frank's first season, needs to implement his style/approach. Needs to probably re think and build the whole front line. Needs to see where Madison and Kulu fit in. So let's not put any targets on this season, other than not finishing 17th or below.
I completely get people's expectations because I have them, but mine will come in 26/27.

I've been dreading this run for weeks. Playing how we are, it's going to be very, very bad.

The next month and a half will be very decisive in where we will finish this season I feel.

Villa
Everton (A)
Chelsea
ManU
Woolwich (A)
Fulham
Newcastle (A)

Something like 3-1-3 or 2-2-3 wouldn't surprise me at all: 8-10 points out of 21 basically. 1-2-4 for 5 points would be a nightmare scenario, but I don't see us sinking that deep.
Would bite your hand off for 3-1-2 from the remaining 6 now. Even 2-2-2 would exceed my expectations now that we already lost a quite favourable one.

X points away from the Yth place people are either simply unaware of the overall difficulty of upcoming fixtures, or think that Frank's football will actually yield better results against top teams.

I'm not confident but let's see.

I'm really struggling to see a win out of any of those games. Fulham if we were playing away, maybe, but we seem to struggle against them, but playing at home now is a disaster.
United, depends on the day and that's the most important match to play positively in midfield, because they can't cope with a dynamic midfield. If we play that negative, crappy Pal/Benta combo, we won't win there. Need players to run at Bruno.
Everton at their new place look good. They look good in general actually. We have have better players than them in every single position, so no excuses for the "we have no forwards crew" if we don't win that.

Ugghh I'd honestly take 6 points out of that run and say it wasn't a complete disaster.

Even after those games we have:
Brentford
Forest (A)
Liverpool
Palace (A)
Brentford (A)

On paper we are the 5th best team in the league, so we definitely should be playing for 5th or higher.

A lot depends on the manager, injuries and a bit if luck. We should qualify for EL at least. If not it's a fail imo, unless we win a trophy of course.

Thread title says 5th.

But there's plenty of people who are seeing anything better than 17th as a good thing.

The expectations at the club are so low it's embarrassing. Why aren't we demanding better?

Shackled with mediocre players providing equally mediocre results has infected the fan base in accepting mediocrity.

Romero didn't stay at Spurs to play for 5th. Kolo, Xavi and Kudus didn't come here to play for 5th. They are here for Trophies. If they don't believe they can win the Premier League, you will end up with lackluster performances (as we saw last season). Elite players aren't going to bust a nut to finish 5th.

Spurs have an excellent squad, but something isn't clicking at the moment. Is that down to Franks tactical setup (Spurs squad isn't suited to long balls and physical battles), or are the players under performing?

Next year is the World Cup - if Spurs best players don't feel they can win anything; their performances will drop off again as they focus on the next competition.

Spurs are in a constant cycle of - "Next year we will be good". NO - the squad is there NOW, go and fucking try to win.
