Competition Are we playing for 5th ?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you could freeze the current PL standings until the end of the season, would you take it?

Pros: Spurs get CL while United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea all miss out. West Ham and Forest relegated.

Cons: Woolwich win the league.

They're gonna win it anyway, who cares...it is what it is.

It's hide time we stop worrying about them and worry about ourselves, our fanbase spends way too much time focusing on what they do and don't put the same energy into getting behind us.

Romero didn't stay at Spurs to play for 5th. Kolo, Xavi and Kudus didn't come here to play for 5th. They are here for Trophies. If they don't believe they can win the Premier League, you will end up with lackluster performances (as we saw last season). Elite players aren't going to bust a nut to finish 5th.

Spurs have an excellent squad, but something isn't clicking at the moment. Is that down to Franks tactical setup (Spurs squad isn't suited to long balls and physical battles), or are the players under performing?

Next year is the World Cup - if Spurs best players don't feel they can win anything; their performances will drop off again as they focus on the next competition.

Spurs are in a constant cycle of - "Next year we will be good". NO - the squad is there NOW, go and fucking of winning .try to win.
What have Kolo, Xavi and Kudus ever won anyway. Should be happy to be here with a chance of winning something.

Erm....They have a lot more Trophies than Harry Kane.

Xavi - French League, French Cup, German Super Cup, Dutch Cup, Dutch Super Cup
Kolo - Champions League, 2 x French league, 2 x French Cup, French Super Cup
Kudus - Dutch League, Dutch Cup

I wonder what they said to Romero to make him sign a new contract, if that meant he believes the club were about to win the Premier League.

I can't give up on a season in October.

I'm still hoping this will be a Leicester type of season, with someone not from the so called top 4 winning it and Woolwich don't have the chokers tag for nothing.

We are only 5 points behind Woolwich at the moment. If we beat them we can be 2 points behind them. Just gotta keep hanging in there, get some players back and make a charge later on. Frank threw the EFL to chase the PL.

This month might hurt you tbh. He threw the EFL to stand a chance of finishing 5th. That’s his aim. That’s the Tottenham way. Our forward line is fucking awful. Not league winning that’s for sure.

But to break it down.

Leicester managed to lose just 3 games that season.
While 2nd place lost 7. 3rd place lost 6.

We’ve already lost 2 games in the first 9.
Be a massive shift for us to only lose 1 more game through the whole season.

And need to do a lot more than hang on in there tbh if you want to win the league!

By week 13 Leicester were top.
Between MW14-38 there were only 5 weeks they weren’t top.

To summarise.

You’re living in a fantasy world!! Wake up and smell the coffee and get off the wacky backy!!

(If come Sunday evening 30th November we are top of the league I will come back apologise and buy some of that high grade weed you are clearly smoking)

I said the same thing a couple of seasons ago when everyone wanted us to put Bryan Gil in goal and lose to Man City.

Having said that, I'm not ready to concede the league to the scum just yet. I don't think we can win it but we might just be able to throw a spanner in the works to stop Woolwich. If we beat them at the Emirates in a couple of weeks and beat them again at the Lane later in the season, that's 6 points we'll have taken off them and, if Liverpool and Man City get it together, they can still catch them.

Even if Woolwich do go on to win the league, if we beat them home and away, we will at least be able to say that we did our bit. In 97/98, when they did the double and we spent the season fighting relegation, we still managed two draws against them despite having a team that lost 6-1 at home to Chelsea (if one of those draws had been a win for us, we would have stopped them winning the league).

If we bring our A game into the NLD, we can still do something.

We should definitely be going for 5th or higher but I do worry how injury prone we are. Easy to look at our first 11 and go what a great defence but if we are always going to have 10-12 players injured throughout the season plus CL it’s a problem.

To be fair losing that match was a one off, it was for the greater good we lost thar for our sake.

It's more focusing on them in the long term, as you say we can do all we can and take points off them but there's 0 point worrying about them and what they do week in week out, it has absolutely no bearing to us as a club, maybe the the fans it does but not to the club.

While the big clubs are meat eaters, ripping opponents to shreds, fighting each other to get to the top. We've become a pack of salad eaters, nibbling and pecking away at our greens. Hoping to finish 5th to 8th and hoping to qualify for Europe, hoping we get a decent cups run.

Well enough! The great philosopher Homerius Simpsonus once said "you don't make friends with salad"

Time to get bloodthirsty and play with the big boys.

We didn't field our best available 11 in the League Cup because, presumably, 4th or 5th in the league is more important, but what does 4th or 5th actually get us? More money (to waste)? World class player attraction (no, because we've proven that time and again, as we don't pay top wages)?

We keep throwing these cup competitions for what, a league placing that doesn't actually do anything special for us, as a net outcome? May as well try and win the league cup (which is the most winnable thing we are in) - obviously not this season, again, because wherever we finish in the league isn't exactly going to make a difference to our chances the following season. In fact, playing CL football, with the extra games, makes it all tougher, since we always have half our first team out injured.

Well I can tell you have literally embraced the “meat is murder” mindset, but it’s not really the done thing anymore is it!!

However Arteta’s hair is an indicator he eats a lot of red meat. You don’t get that hair with lettuce. Maybe you’re onto something here.

Thomas Frank looks like a vegan to me if I’m totally honest. He might need to be your first dinner “guest” to get this plan of yours to work.

We didn't field our best 11 because we have a weak squad as it is with all these injuries and that and our schedule over the next month or so is crazy, it was for the greater good.

If VDV and Kudus go down with injuries where does it leave us?

You can’t go on year after year with the injuries we have
With players seemingly never close to a return
Puts far to much pressure on the players and in the end they get injured
We simply have to address this injury problem
