5th is still mathematically possible.

What am I missing here? We are 19 points behind 5th with 21 left to play for.

Ok, I don’t want to hurt your brain too much!!

So maybe like when Dr Strange looks at 5 billion possibilities there is 1 when Spurs get 51 points and Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton and Brentford all fail to reach the magic 51.

But let’s just say you expect Liverpool to stay on 49 points and spurs to get to 51. I can accept that could happen.

But what happens in your mind when Liverpool lose to Chelsea?

Do the 3 points magically disappear?? Or do Chelsea now suddenly have 51 points???

Then they lose to Everton. 3 points toodle off to fairyland?? Or maybe Everton suddenly have 49 points.

They also lose to Brentford. 3 points into the Matrix??? Brentford also now on 49 points.

Obviously Liverpool would still have 49 points. I give you that. Solid maths there.

But working on the basis there are 20 teams in the league looking at the results of just two of those teams is not good mathematics my good man.

Let’s just say you’re over here wrestling with 2+2 while I’m this fellow.

Just gone through all the fixtures remaining from Liverpool, Chelsea, Brentford, and Everton. Fulham and Brighton only appear twice in those fixtures. So it's still mathematically possible all the way down to Newcastle, who I haven't worked out

Oh, I am under no impression that we even finish above 16th.
Impossible and improbable are different though, and when Gemini told me the highest we could finish was 8th I decided to whip excel haha
i just asked grok just now haha

Yes, it's mathematically possible for Tottenham Hotspur to finish 5th, but it's extremely unlikely given their current position and form.

From the screenshot (last updated ~25 March 2026), Tottenham sit 17th with 31 played, 7 wins, 9 draws, 15 losses (30 points, GD -10). They're in a relegation scrap, not pushing for Europe.

Why it's tough:

  • There are only 7 games left (38 total matches in a Premier League season).
  • Even if they win all 7 remaining matches, they'd add 21 points51 points total.
  • The current 5th place (Liverpool) has 49 points from 31 games.
  • Teams above them (6th Chelsea on 48, 7th Brentford/Everton on 46, etc.) also have games left and would likely pick up points too.
To overtake the top 5–6 sides, Spurs would need:

  • Near-perfect results (mostly wins).
  • Significant drops from Liverpool, Chelsea, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Brighton, etc.
The teams directly above them have similar or better goal differences and more established form. Spurs have been in poor form (long winless run mentioned in recent reports), which makes a massive turnaround even harder.

Realistic outlook:

  • With ~7 games left, the maximum realistic points haul for a struggling side like this is often 10–15 points.
  • That would likely leave them around 40–45 points, fighting to avoid relegation rather than challenging for 5th (which will probably end up requiring 55+ points this season, based on current top-half trends).
Short answer: Mathematically yes (if they go on an unprecedented winning streak and results elsewhere collapse in their favour). In practice, no — their focus right now is almost certainly staying in the Premier League, not climbing to 5th. The table shows they're 19 points off 5th with limited games remaining.

Their remaining fixtures (from recent sources) include matches against Sunderland (A), Brighton (H), Wolves (A), Aston Villa (A), and others — some winnable, but a full sweep is a massive ask.

me: hahaa
Haha, glad the song gave you a laugh! 😂

Real talk though — we're now in early April 2026, and Spurs are still stuck in 17th with 30 points after 31 games (7W-9D-15L, GD -10). The miracle run to 5th is looking even more like pure fantasy.

They've got 7 games left, starting with:

  • Sunderland (A) on 12 April
  • Brighton (H) on 18 April
  • Wolves (A) on 25 April
  • Aston Villa (A) on 2 May
  • ...and a few more tough ones after that.
To hit 5th they'd basically need to win almost all of them (pushing towards 48-51 points), while Liverpool (currently 5th on 49), Chelsea (48), and the teams around them completely collapse.

I can sum it up here. Ugh.

Liverpool:
Lose their 7 games = 49 points

Chelsea:
Only beat City, lose the rest = 51 points

Brentford:
Draw with Everton and beat Liverpool, lose the rest = 50 points

Everton:
Draw with Brentford and beat Liverpool, lose the rest = 50 points

Obviously we'd need to win like 10-0 every game haha

we are sooo cocked
when the robots will remember all the dumb questions we asked them it will be the end of humanity when the humans vs robots war will break out in 2035( grok told me once the robot vs human war will be 2035 (by accident) )

I wouldn't mind, but after I had to correct Gemini, with a picture of my excel sheet, it told me it was a cleaner table than a massive table I had with 5000 people and roles, email addresses and external email addresses which I needed help with 😂
It also felt the need, like yours to tell me that while it was possible, not to get my hopes up.

It thinks we're absolute idiots.

so true we could ask "the meaning of life ","how to cure cancer?" or "how to get world peace?"
but no ,99.9 percent of humans are like us asking them dumb questions :D:roflmao:
