Big Fat Nacer Chadli.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't know what it's like to lose a parent, definitely at such a young age (25), so I hope that Nacer will be alright. I don't know him personally and have no idea how his relation with his father was , although I hope he will be back soon.
Romelu Lukaku, after losing his very good friend Junior Malanda, was already on the pitch again a few days after the tragedy, scored and honoured Malanda. Hope Nacer will soon find the strength to do the same.

Think you've hit the nail on the head here:
1. Nobody knows what it's like, unless theyt have - I lost my old man when I was 30. If I said I thought about him all the time it would be a straight-up exaggeration. On the other hand if I said never that too would be wrong. Potentially there isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about him but it's random, comes and goes and is contextual - sometimes I piss myself laughing at something I remember and other times it just plain makes me sad.

2. Nacer will either be ok or it will end up all-consuming. Death is funny like that in that people handle it different ways. My understanding about the rites following death in the Islamic faith - and I am by no means an expert in any faith so this is by no means a comment upon religion in general or Islam so if upon reading you take it the wrong way, I meant it the other way :) - is that [specific] prayers are offered, a three-day mourning period is observed and overt displays of grief are both permitted and expected but not to the extent that wailing/chest beating take place.

3. The example cited for Lukaku is no more than one would expect I think - ie after a three-day mourning period his art is the perfect outlet for a more public way to honour his friend. The same could apply here although the loss of one's father has the potential to run somewhat deeper.

I know football isn't the most important, but it would be a shame because he was in such a good form now, had a lot of confidence and seemed very happy.

Quite so.

Football may not be the most important thing but the thing about the deceased is they have a way of telling you via your memories of them and the reflections of others more or less exactly how they would expect you to be, however that plays out.....

Yea, if Jack Wilshere did a Sol Campbell and came to us then scored 30 we'd all forget his indiscretions too?

See, anyone can make up a scenario that isn't going to happen to make a point. It's moot.

It ain't going to happen. Especially with performances like last night. He has had as many poor seasons as good. The geeza is an enigma, one of the single most frustrating players ever to play for us. He takes the piss out of our club and people defend him. Astonishing.

On Chadli, we missed him badly last night, his effective directness missing all night.

Like I said, it was a response to someone saying that people would still hate Ade if he somehow scored 30 goals.
If Ade somehow scored 30 goals, I don't think people would hate him. A theoretical can't be moot, as there is still some percentage of the occurrence, however low, still somehow happening. If it did somehow happen, then I guarantee most supporters would change their tune.

You're acting like that kid in class that nobody wants to deal with because he's a smarmy little asshole.

If my aunty had bollocks she'd be my uncle.

These geeza has taken the piss out the club and you defend him. Ade more important to you than Spurs so it seems.

EDIT - If Ade doesn't do this ridiculous 30 goal hypothetical, will you then change your opinion? Or will you defend him no matter how much he takes the piss whilst not performing? Where is the line for you?

He wears the shirt, so I'll not be some fickle cunt that boos or spits vitriol his way. Since when does supporting your club's players make you a non-supporter? Doesn't seem like the club has a problem with him, as he was named captain last night after all.

Don't dare call into question my support of Spurs... you're the one letting your subjective opinion of a player the club seems to hold in decent regard get in the way of supporting him while he's under contract, playing and wearing the shirt etc.

You're the fucking moron with a vendetta towards a football player you've never met based on reports you hear from the fucking media. Think for yourself for once you goddamn meathead fuck.

hahaha, just the media eh? So having not played since November despite not being injured isn't taking the piss? Perfectly fine for you, especially for the highest paid player.

My opinion's subjective? considering subjectiveness is based on personal feelings then, yea, that's what opinions are you pleb.

I suppose since you're seething from the arsehole so hard at me about not liking someone I've never met that you don't dislike the likes of Sol Campbell, Jack Wilshere etc. you confused bellend.

But I must think for myself. Because the media forms my opinion of course. Which is any opinion different to your blissful ignorance. I'm done with this, and you, this is turning into a slanging match. Allow.

He was given permission to leave for home, by the club, on December 10th. Whatever it was (he and the club say a private matter, so like an adult I respect that and don't use it as a reason to make up reasons to hate him) he left for kept him away until the 19th-- long enough, considering the fitness issues he was having prior to leaving, to need a few weeks to get ready to play again. Dunno what your gripe could be there, as it's really no mystery that trying to play a match when you aren't in game shape is dangerous for both squad and player alike. And, considering there's a two week period in November when nobody plays... yeah, not that big of a deal. Especially since, you know, the club was okay with it. He missed about a month -- a month that, arguably, he wouldn't have seen much game time during any way due to Kane's recent all-world form.

Do I like them from a footballing perspective? No, of course not. But I'm not going to sit here and say I hate another human being over a sport. That'd just be nasty. Unlike some (apparently), I'm not a rabid, brainless dog.

So you don't address anything of substance from my previous post, start 'slanging' (in your parlance), and then leave because somehow it's turned into a slanging match? Don't be an ass, you turned it into a slanging match because you can't control your pre-teen emotions. Don't be mad at me for calling you out for being a cunt towards some of our players. I'm sure you're one of the ones that boos when he gets the chance. Shameful, really. And totally destructive. Ade wears the shirt, and yesterday he wore the armband... I suggest you get over yourself and your dumb little vendetta, and support him and the rest of our squad. Then you'd really be supporting Spurs.

You called me a ''smarmy little arsehole'' first up. So again, you are wrong.

hate another human being over a sport.
No-one said they hated Adebayor least of all me, so again, wrong.

I'm sure you're one of the ones that boos when he gets the chance. Shameful, really. And totally destructive.
See my post in the Sheff. Utd. match thread about my opinions on booing which echoes exactly what you just said. So, again, wrong.

You're making being wrong an art form. Tremendous stuff.

A few people had the idea for Burnley but it didnt catch on. Everyone should applaud in the 22nd minute to show respect for the passing of Nacer Chadli's father Ramdam Chadli.

Sad for Nacer`s loss, but this applause business is getting too much now !
This. There were no applause when Defoe, Palacios and Ade lost their brothers and Soldado lost his baby. Chaldi won't even likely be there anyway.

As much as I am sure Chadli would be touched if he knew, I think there is a tendency for people to hijack the grief of others for the sake of their own feeling of worthiness. You've just got to look at the way Liverpool fans behave over Hillsborough and the frequency with which clubs trot out black armbands these days.

Personally I think that if people want to show compassion for Chaldi it might be better done by tweeting him or maybe send a sympathy card via the club.
