Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I for one am shocked we had more shots etc than a team who were leading from the 2nd minute away from home.

We had literally all our shots/chances in the last 10/15 after changes lol .. the performance for 90% of the game was terrible .. look at the fucking match thread!

Do you actually think he played “well” or are you just on a wind up?
Again a factually incorrect statement...outright lie...meh who cares about facts though right.

Says the man defending Brennan fucking Johnson.

You realise I don’t care if we were ‘better’ than United right? We weren’t good. We didn’t play well. Brennan didn’t contribute shit all.

If you want to list that under another ‘good’ performance then go fucking for it mate, you’ll be the only one. Fanboy.
Brennan played the perfect cross right on richys head but he preferred to use his shoulder. Missed it completely
That offside goal Brennan scored just showed what he is . Great finish against a keeper in form. Cannot say he played well but we need to get him more inside so he can try and score goals .
Having said that I think we will probably shift him in the summer with a decent offer.

xG was about the same.

It was a shit off between two poor teams, but at least they had the excuse of playing away and protecting a lead..

The idea Johnson contributed to a good performance is laughable.
Pardon?

0.96 Vs 0.63
10 shots Vs 5 shots
4 on target Vs 2
55% Vs 45%

They had the excuse of "playing away and protecting a lead"

Yet where's our "excuse" for playing midweek whilst they were chilling for a week and yet we still dominated the 2nd half?

Getting a goal doesn't mean a player has played well. Brennan Johnson got a goal today, but he didn't play well, and he lost his man for the equaliser.

You can't deny it's a pattern. He got plenty of goals last season, but I don't remember one real standout performance.

Where you getting your stats? xG Philosophy have it at 1.01 vs 0.99.

More shots, possession etc .. of course, they led for most of the game!

They weren’t good but neither were fucking we. Johnson contributed to an attacking performance where we beat our head against a wall achieving nothing for 85 mins.

Stale shite. And Johnson was the shitty cherry on top of the crappy cake.

He's a Woolwich fan mate, only on here to wind people up. Best to ignore him

Johnson did okay today and is certainly not to blame for the lack of attacking intent from the whole team for the majority of the game.

Johnson created our best chance in the first half which Richy should have buried.
Not many people agree with you as he is bottom rated on here for the match. Still I guess they are all wrong and you are right eh

This is the kind of reasonable comment that is utterly wasted on the person to whom you are responding.

“That offside goal he scored was good wasn’t it? I mean irrelevant but wow!!”

&

“Those two crosses which should definitely have been goals (he has 0.4 xA for the ENTIRE SEASON) were so good!”

Reasonable = whatever the happy clappy fuckers who love to stroke one out over our shittest players so they can feel good about themselves agree with.

Got to be better with the marking at the end killed us.

Truly shambolical marking assignments for that one- Romero as captain should be ensuring our best aerial defenders are marking their most dangerous aerial attackers EVERY time. There's no alternate universe where Johnson should be marking Matijs DeLigt- a situation that should have never been allowed to happen.

That being said, he somehow ended up being Johnsons mark, and Johnson completely failed to track him. Johnson is simply NOT the kind of player that is going to fight his way around screens. His optimal position in set pieces like this is sitting outside the edge of the box trying to run the counter after winning possession, or closing down oppo shooters from deep if the ball ends up outside the box. He's not a player that should be marking aerial threats inside the box.

I find it shocking he somehow ended up being DeLigt's marker. Would be comical if it wasn't us.

Yeah I don't get it at all. United should be one of the least threatening teams in the league aerially. You basically need to handle De Ligt and Maguire and that's it - the rest of the team really aren't especially big or threatening in the air.

Surely one of Danso, Palhinha or VdV has to be on De Ligt?! Don't especially blame Johnson - he never should've been put on him in the first place.
