What a load of tosh.
There’s no chance Brennan is lacking in opportunity or platform. He has played more games than any attacker of ours over the past two seasons.

Ange has described his perfect goal as the winger run into space, low cross, tap in at the back post. Brennan’s ideal as well.

He has maxed out on what I’d call the teachable parts of being a wing forward. His timing on runs is great, he has a good instinct for getting on the end of crosses, he follows instructions well. Moreover, he played in a system where these qualities are put on display in the biggest way.

What he is missing is aptitude.

A coach cannot teach him to beat a man. Ange gave him ample opportunity and he simply cannot do it. I don’t know if I’ve seen a step over in two years. He sucks at take ons because he lacks the talent for it. He also has poor ball striking technique both passing and shooting. Can’t remember when he put his laces through a shot, it’s all scuffed hooking around the ball.

I really think he’s been maximized already. I would be shocked if we got more out of him than Ange did. He’s just a limited player.

Ok, we’ll see. Of course he only had 7 expected assists that season (so not that high, Cole Palmer got 1 more with 13 expected last season, a clinical teammate helps) but if you think this one note wide player is creative then go ahead.

Another bet would be fun. He won’t hit 10 assists next season.
Always happy to help Hope in Haringey, was planning to run back some sort of bet.

Depends on our transfer business, last season's bet was a fair proposition because it was clear from the outset that he was the preferred RW. If we sign Mbuemo it will greatly impact his minutes, obviously, and so the proposition needs to be reflective of his opportunity.

At any rate, Brennan is a better player than many here will admit. And our first trophy in 17 years - whether you believe he got a touch or not, the goal doesnt happen if he's not there making that run.

He’s just ok. Mbuemo coming in will mean he’s put in a correct role which is impact sub. His movement is decent. He’s not a 90 minute top 4 footballer because his fundamentals are bad, he’s just very good in a couple of specific areas.

He’s a wish version of Pedro.

So, so many of his goals were scored outside of the 16 yd box and not tap ins.

Have you watched them all for us? Forest?

Ange has openly admitted he’s not hands on coaching, and I’m not particularly convinced the standard of the assistant coaches assembled for him was that great either.

I might be misremembering it, but I thought Brennan was known for knocking the ball into space and taking on the defender whilst at Forest?

I’m sure I also recall him scoring several goals with decent shots across the keeper rather than just being a back post tap in merchant? Anyhow, do you not think technique on striking a ball can be coached? I’m sure your namesake could show some of the young strikers a few tricks of the trade.

Where I’m hopeful is that I reckon any player development stagnated under Ange and we might hopefully see some players kick on this season.

You are delusional.

First it’s the 18 yard box not 16. Second of all. Where?

View: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HjkTuE8zUDQ Not a single one is scored from outside the box in fact, basically 90% of them are just one or two touch finishes.

If you think he’s got some Son-esque rippers from 25 yards in his locker you’re just plainly making that up.

Ange clearly looking for him to play differently.

Lot to like in those highlights including some rippers! 😉

I meant 6-yard box -

Tap-in is a tap-in; outside the 6-yard box is not.

Come on, bro -

You don't get bonus points for degree of difficulty, its not figure skating.

Scoring 18 goals at the PL/FA/LC/EL level is nothing to sneeze at.

Harry Kane was only a year or so younger than Brennan when everyone said all he scored were penalties and tap ins.

He's not the blood and thunder dribble-his-man winger people want to see. But dribbles don't count on the scoreboard, and, realistically, dribbling in football is akin to stealing bases in baseball: its something people think is important, but data has shown it doesn't really correlate to winning the way common opinion thinks it does.

It's exciting for supporters, but more often than not (even for those who are great at it) ends in a turnover - which negatively impacts your chances of winning, obviously.

I hope your spelling isn't that sloppy when you're at work.

Well said.

I think we should we should sell him to any club dumb enough to buy him.

Yes mate, at work I hold myself to the exact same standards as I do on an online football forum.

With gotcha’s like ‘you very slightly misspelled a name online’ you could be an auditor. The true heroes of society.

Do I detect a sneer in your tone? Now there's a surprise!
Isn't spelling someone's name correctly quite important in your line of business? If not, I hope you're my arresting officer. I remember once, many years ago, old Bill stopped me for a particular traffic violation, then stupidly summonsed me for something quite different, to which I pleaded not guilty (quite rightly, because I hadn't done it) and I was found not guilty.
We get the police force we pay for.
I bet Bryan Mbeumo doesn't worry when he gets stopped for having the wrong colour skin to be driving an expensive car, because he knows they'll never spell his name right on the charge sheet.

I rest my case, Your Lordship.
