I think there are positions where being ineffective for most of a match, but making a single difference can be handled. Forward players being one. You do fuck all, hardly touch the ball, but score a goal. Haaland probably a good example of not having many touches, but the ones he has are extremely effective. A keeper can have nothing to do until the last minute, where a point blank save stops an equaliser.
As for Frank not rating him, that does appear to be the case. However, I’d suggest that Frank doesn’t know how to get better from him. Ange had his numerous flaws, but got goals from Johnson. None of our forwards are firing and this is obviously because they aren’t getting the ball often enough. That’s on Frank.
We presently can’t afford the luxury of a player who rarely contributes, but if we had some idea about how to get the ball to the forwards, Johnson would be more effective. World class? Certainly not, but better than he’s looking this season.
At least Haaland grafts and presses even popping up in defence!

Frank rarely plays him and the only reason he does get the odd is only because he rotates. As for Halaand even when he doesn’t t touch the ball is constantly making the centre backs think and keep them occupied. He even makes full backs think because they end up playing narrower because they are always looking to cover on the outside of the centre back because halaand makes that run.
Any full back against Johnson can go for a piss and it wouldn’t make a difference.

It isn’t. The Pochettino years were miles ahead. A CL final dwarfs a EL win. I’ll never hear anything else.
It’s like comparing winning a nations league cup to winning the World Cup. I’d rather get a taste of glory at the highest possible level than win something dropping down. I’d rather finish 2nd in the prem than win the championship.
Spurs were legitimately one of the best 10 teams on the planet for 2-3 seasons; this over beating Bodo Glimt & co all day long. Cup or no cup.
