    Get involved!

Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Johnson looks like a guy who is naturally fanatastic at football but who really doesn’t like being a footballer.

Think it’s likely best if we move in different directions! Will always be a legend for that goal. But can’t hold onto that forever

You all mocked those back post tap ins......

Look at the state of our attack now

It will be different for everyone involved in coaching, but anytime that attacking patterns we worked on in training came off in a match exactly as you had practised was a great feeling.

Ange used Timo and Brennan to the best of their abilities. Shame he didn’t put the same care and attention into defensive structure and set pieces.

He’d probably still have a job.

Spot on. Blokes a complete nut job. Its like learning how to do half of something and just shrugging. I mean if you willfully work something out as effectively as on occasion he did but refuse to do the other half get the best most experienced defensive coach you can and team up your ideas. So much wasted such hubris.

Especially seeing as by the end he had thrown out all pretence of AngeBall to just play a solid defensive shape with hardly any attacking intent. Happy to just soak up pressure.

Very bizarre time when we look back at it.

Well it was bizarre at the time as well!!!

In what world does Johnson look like a guy who’s naturally fantastic at football? I have no idea how anyone can say that
Johnson looks like a guy who is going to earn another 100k a week for 2.5 more years. No club outside the top 6/7 will give that sort of money to him so he will keep his country club membership for a few more seasons yet. We have so many players like this who we bought for big money but have zero sell on value i.e. we can't shift them to poorer teams because of their gold plated Spurs contracts.

It'll be more than 2.5 years. A year from now, he'll have a purple patch for about 4 weeks and the club will sign him to a new contract, see Bentancur.

It’s bonkers how we keep making the same mistakes.

Entirely agree. People latch on to what a player can't do and sometimes ignore what he can. Emerson Royal didn't offer much with the ball but you didn't see players get around him in the final third. Werner couldn't finish but he had pace and could get around his man in the final third. Not saying we should of kept either, but sometimes you have to balance attributes and limitations and use imperfect players as well as you can. Johnson is what he is. If you give away that goal scoring ability you surely had better be getting something worthwhile out of who you put out there in his place.

He’s getting on the pitch and not scoring. I dislike Richarlison but he gets on the pitch and scores, sub or not.

Brennan has offered nothing with the minutes he has had so is not playing. If he was scoring when he came on (or offering anything really) he might play.

He’s also had starts and not scored. So the guy who has one trick isn’t doing the one trick. So doesn’t play. Which seems fair to me.

It looks like of Odobert, Tel, and Johnson Frank only rates Odobert so far, Tel and Johnson much less. If that's the case, replacing Johnson needs to be a priority in the transfer window. Tel will likely be around awhile if for no other reason than his market value has eroded. I like Tel, but I think I'm definitely in the minority there.
