Match Brentford (A) - 02Feb, 2pm - Live on Sky

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Mick, despite winning, they had more of the ball, higher XG, more shots and more corners.

If Ange comes out and says that was 'our football' etc. then his footbal is fucking shite.
Please, the amount of games we've had this year where we have won on xG, had more of the ball and didn't win yet that was also deemed a failure, then we win a grinding game at Brentford and that's not good enough. Can't win regardless, some people just don't want to be happy ever.

WHAT?

I've supported Spurs for 58 years, thick and thin - silverware and relegation.

I'm no global standard manager, but I've seen enough football played by this club to recognise the good managers from the bad -
where we are is circumstances - not managers
apologies, i mistook you for a recent austrailian for some reason.

Fuck me, people can be happy winning and still think the manager is the wrong man.

Maybe you're biased because he's Australian.

Ange probably feels falsely rewarded after this daylight robbery of a win, but I’ll take it. Even putting our dire situation aside, they have always been a poor matchup for us. So colour me pleasantly surprised.

That being said, it’s hard to believe how open we are even with a double pivot. I assume that’s an indicator of how much we’re lacking in the fundamentals of pressing. According to data we have no problem running around a bit, as we lead the league in sprinting both in and out of possession. But I guess there’s nothing else to our pressing, as each player looks like he is instructed to tackle/disturb whoever is in his immediate promixity. Cohesion is truly lacking. Relying on individual heroics to keep clean sheets is a dangerous game.

Gray and Spence particularly stood out to me, especially the former who singlehandedly kept us from conceding a goal or two with his vital interceptions/blocks/tackles. The latter also deserves great credit for keeping Mbeumo in check for the most part, it was reminiscent of the clinic he put up against Salah in the first leg. Well done.
For the press to be effective you need Dom’s energy up top.

Sonny and Richy looked absolutely gassed.

I think the lack of energy throughout the team following a hectic schedule was very obvious today.

In fairness I hadn't actually looked at what your thread was responding too, and that one post out of context seems more whiny than it probably actually was.

I probably am biased because he's Australian. But also I've seen his success from the start, and more importantly there's also cold hard facts of what we've been through this year, and the fact that changing managers to soon has been a constant theme of this club. In general I don't like how early we sack managers, I didn't want Poch sacked, I didn't want Jose sacked (that was probably the angriest I've been at a club decision given the context of the League Cup), and I was hoping Conte would stick around until he did his rant to try and get himself hooked. If we can for once ride the storm (and this storm has probably been the worst of the lot) then we'll be better for it on the other side.

That was a far better defensive performance than we're giving credit for.

Djed Spence was great in defence.

Also - and this must have been on Ange, Porro and Spence were not pushing as high as they have been and the front players were staying a lot closer to our defense meaning we were far more compact.

Don't get me wrong, there were still chances but with our full backs not all going gung ho, we looked slightly better defensive and the match was far less chaotic than games we've recently been involved in.

Spence MOTM for me.

When everyone is back and fit, i think the RB-position should be his the rest of the season.

Both Porro and Udogie having a bad season.

I would probably go with:

Spence - Romero - VdV - Davies

Or this:

Spence - Romero - Danso - VdV

And how about young Archie Gray? The lad has been played out of position all season. RB, LB, CB, and he's done very well in all positions.

I'm really curious to see how he would manage the DMC role. I would be tempted to play him there instead of Biss when everyone is fit.
