Match Brentford (A) - 02Feb, 2pm - Live on Sky

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I didn’t mind them. (Perhaps Dier’s time had come as he was painfully slow for any progressive DF). Every team needs a reasonably defensive MFer who can also progress the ball (and then a second to rotate with). We don’t have that at the moment- maybe Gray or Bergvall will become that but they’re both not ready at the moment to take on that full responsibility.
Hojbjerg isn't fit to shine Gray's shoes right this second, mate. Could you see PEH performing this well being shunted here there and everywhere based on the needs of the team? Gray has been about the only bright spot so far of the whole fucking season for fuck sake. If he's this good now he will be in a different stratosphere to PEH by the time he's 22.

Another massive thing about this result is that we don't play another league game for 2 weeks so we really needed that 3 points to give us that breathing room over the next 2 cup games.

Away to the highest scorers at home with a knackered and injured squad with most on here expecting a loss and at least one poster accepting a draw before the start, that was an excellent result. It showed that Ange can adjust towards different circumstances and the doom mongers talking us down we’re disappointed.

Hahah
How many pints did you end up having?

I didn’t want rid (thought they were given an unnecessarily hard time).

I shan't attempt to deprive you of your opinion.....

No-one turns up aiming to be rubbish -

....But this suggests you think they were "rubbish" to at least some degree.

they just didn’t fit the team’s needs at the time.

...Ergo????

(What do you do with such players then? ....Not make them feckin' captain! LOL)

I’m constantly in awe of any professional sportsperson - I’d give them all a break if I could. However, the OP was about ‘leaders’ and they were two of them who were unceremoniously under-utilised and then moved on.

They weren't "unceremoniously" anything... Now you're just adding drama to a scenario where there was none.

Dier got a cheeky little move to one of the biggest clubs in the world with just 6 months left on his contract (where he's riding the bench even though the way they play suits him a little more than here).... A move that suprised most of the footballing world.

PEH was being used as a sub here all last season, but his deal was also coming to an end and he wanted to be a starter so was found a new club/league where he could start.

They can all hold that, Carragher, Henry, the commentators - they can all fuck off, the snide mocking tone before and during the match about the club, Carragher talking about Dr Tottenham in the HT analysis and saying we'd concede 3 goals today, Henry saying that all Spurs fans do is focus on Woolwich, so so unprofessional - just perpetuating a load of Twitter takes from rival fans, this is what football analysis is in this country, twats.

How come there’s no Dr Manu? I’d love to see them giggle like that if Roy Keane was sitting next to them. They’re like children. And unprofessional ones at that.

I'll enjoy the result but the 'performance', from a tactical perspective, is not one I'd prefer to be repeated very often...the commitment yes.
The performance was actually quite good if you take on board that we tried to limit their chances and stifle any threat from Mbueno.

Fullbacks rarely charged forward and the front three stayed closer to the middle three who sat just in front of the back four making for a much tighter display.

Yes it wasn't vintage, but it got the job done and if Richie had taken his chances, we'd have been laughing.

You could say the same about Brentford and their chances but in the end, they never had many clear cut chances really.

The funny thing from today is that people are belly-aching about lack of possession, inferior XG etc......... Yet, wasn't what we saw actually some semblance of a much fabled "Plan B" (*) ?

(*A "Plan B" btw, that despite being told we've never seen it, was absolutely visible in other games this season too.)

I don't expect today to change any broader opinions about the manager (he's type-cast himself with his repeated "It's who we are" comments afterall); but it's a sure sign that some of you fuckers are just forever searching for an angle from which to complain and pick holes and aren't actually doing so in hope of a resolution.
