Match Brentford fc vs TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR/ Sun 13th 14:00

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not a single Spurs player in my FPL team for the first time ever. This is a watershed moment.

(I toyed with Maddison or Richarlison..)

Gaffa - Looks quality.
Defense - TBC, but room for optimism.... Esp. given how the team will be expected to defend from the front.
MF - We have great MF options; including a best 3 of Mad/Biss/Bent which I like a LOT.
Attack - Way less dependent on a miracle man, but TBC

Stick with me, Rose... I see you stay afloat. :)

I will admit...that I have Gabriel and Saka in my side also...

:harrylol: :ange-hands-head:

Saka basically has to be in there because he takes all set pieces. If Maddison takes pens he's 100% in instead of Martinelli for me but we don't know that for sure yet. Gabriel is just obvious because aerial threat + piss easy early fixtures for that lot.

I'm still really toying with Richarlison too because even though I'm not hugely confident in him, a 7m midfielder who is actually going to be our starting CF would be HUGEEE. Gonna wait to see how this Brentford game goes I think.

I reserve expectations with Ange. Think he's saying all the right things and he has that charisma but not gonna be dragged in to the Ange euphoria. That said, you do get that really secure vibe from him .. he reminds me of a really good sergeant.

MF 100% agree with - like it. Think BC is right in that to make it perfect a really busy nasty fucker would give us perfect options but it is technical and it is good.

I'm not sold on current attacking options - too many question marks for me. Will Kulu recover form? Can Richarlison step it up massively? Will Son recover form? How good really is Solomon?

Not gonna lie - I have 3 main areas for concern.

Strike force
Defence
and Midfield

Come to think of it I'm not sure about the keeper either.

Other than that.......

I'd like to see a head to head of pen conversion stats:

J-Madz v Son v Richy.....

(Is there a site that will be that for me without fucking around and compiling it all myself?)

According to footystats.org (club only I think)

Maddison: 8 penalties taken, 6 scored. 75% ratio.

Richarlison, 9 penalties taken, 7 scored. 77% ratio.

Son, 10 penalties taken, 7 scored. - 70% scoring ratio.

Its incredibly close, basically. Any one of those 3 could take. You'd *think* it would be Maddison due to his known set piece abilities but also it could be Son because he steps up as the new main man, or Richarlison as the new starting CF could just be ballsy and grab the ball.

It's tough. And it's why Maddison isn't in my FPL team!!

For me, you'd *think* Richarlison to help build up his confidence. A goal's a goal as a striker.

I take solace from the fact we've still got 3 weeks to see how things are flowing and to react accordingly.

LW: Son / Solomon / Perisic / Gil (+Rich)
ST: Rich / Son / Veliz
RW: Kulu / Solomon / Porro (+ Perisic & Gil)

Lots of options; but probably lacking a little star-dust longer-term though. I still doubt our ability to attract a proven HQ goal-scorer without Europe and think it may be prudent to hold that thought until next summer if possible.

(Sure we could bring in Orban now, but profile-wise he's not so different to Veliz..... i.e. A young punt.)

I also think subs will be key for Ange and I'd expect 2 x #8s & 2 x wide-men switched most games to keep energy levels right up.

Since we're talkin' fantasy:

Fuck Saka. Fuck all the scum. except Gabriel, price point too good but he's gone asap after their easy peasy fixture run

I've got Maddison and he's starting, and I've got Udogie but he's on the bench for now. I'd like to keep 1 mil or so in the bank in case I need to make changes and prices rise. Here's my question: should I bring in GLC or Solomon as my 5th mid? Won't start this week but which one would you rather have as an option over next several weeks? I'm leaning Solly... but think either/both have a high ceiling and GLC probably will get more minutes? Don't know. Please advise

I’d ask that everyone temper their expectations for the first few games. Ange is renowned for having poor starts, the team is completely changing their on field tactics from the last few years and we’ll have lost our talisman. Brentford won 5 of their last 6 games last season which included games against us and Man City. If people think we’re going to get off to an amazing start and hit the ground running, you might be in for a rude awakening and it’ll be a long season for you. Let’s see how we’re doing at Christmas and just hope that we become more enjoyable to watch
My what a depressing outlook compared to even 12 months ago but very true.

Solomon. First sub at a minimum and if Son/Kulu have a slow start then he'll be in the team. We know he can score goals & GLC at his best is dynamic but not a g/a getter.

He's my first sub as well I think.

Subs:
Forster
Porro
Van de Ven
Davies
Hojbjerg
Sarr
Lo Celso
Perisic
Solomon

Would like to chuck Veliz on the bench but would be surprised if he's fit. If so could probably take out Van de Ven. Sidenote, I literally went to type Kane out of habit. So strange that we're not gonna have him leading the line.

We lost at home 3-1 to Brentford in the penultimate match last season. Many of the players are yet to play 90 mins and What happened Tuesday (conceding late goals) is a very real concern even with 5 subs as they are not all match fit. With Son's demise we have just sold our only reliable goal scorer (we have strikers but no reliable goal scorers) I find it very difficult to have any confidence of any points Sunday or for a few weeks with our transfer dealings still incomplete. By the time we get our CB's and Kane's replacement settled in we will be playing catch up. I find it strange so many are confident about Sunday but then that was the case in last years run in and was misplaced.
As clubs will not yet have worked us out I would not be surprised if we get an early lead Sunday but cannot see it lasting.

That’s the spirit - NB we signed Kanes replacement 13 months ago
