Just thought:

If Harry leaves in the Summer, it could start the 'exodus' of players.

If he goes now and a new manager comes in, has time to settle etc and our season remains uneffected would that work in our favour???

#pondering

I think we're putting too much weight on Redknapp here, he's done a great job but it won't all come tumbling down because he's not here. Obviously, worst case scenario, this is possible but we need to have a bit of faith. I don't expect a mass exodus in the summer, we're on the verge of something great at Spurs. It'd be sweeter for Modric, Bale et al to win the league with us than go elsewhere and do it. As fans, we've gone on the journey with them so they should hang about.

I was suggesting this at the start of the season but our form means I'm a dick and he should stay.

But yes, the summer is a bad time for us as other clubs will use any window opportunity to try and turn a players head. Redknapp leaves, the next day Man City start mentioning Modric, he think's well I don't know whats going on here so maybe it's not a bad idea.

I suppose if it's made clear that Harry is going in the summer, it gives us more time to offer the job around and find someone suitable who might convince the players to stay. I know Levy will be doing this anyway but it's more concrete if it's public knowledge who's going/coming.

The truth is we should've got rid of Redknapp at the end of last season and got Ancelotti in.

He's a good manager but this was always going to be his last season with us with him either getting time inside or the England job........now the candidates to take over from him are VERY thin on the ground and the disruption to our squad could end our little spell of being quite good.

When it comes down to it, there's no point worrying about shit until it actually happens. We haven't even had a statement from the club yet, and we probably won't hear anything until the FA makes an official approach.

Unfortunately if he leaves I think it will have quite an impact on a few of the players futures.
I'm not saying were doomed but I can see a few leaving in the summer

Really hope I'm wrong

nonsense! who knew capello would walk before the Euros? you're also assuming ancelotti would do as well as redknapp has this season which I very much doubt. I personally think it would have been stupid to get rid of him last summer

Whether Capello left before or after the competition is irrelevant - the England managers job was always becoming available and Redknapp has been trying to talk himself into it for over two years now.

Football is about long-termism, you can't have a manager signing players on longer contracts than they intend to be at a club themselves.

it;s such a joke how the fa do things

Keegan!! we need Keegan! great man-motivator, knows all the players, knows the English ways, blah, blah.....ends in disaster

Right, that didn't work, let's get a foreign dude in who will wow us with his continental experience, make us think he's clever cause he wears glasses, add a bit of sophistication to our outdated English ways.....didn't end well either

Right, that foreign guy made us look silly, better get an English guy in. McClaren's just won a Cup, he's English, he knows the players, he knows the English ways, blah, blah, blah...ends in disaster

Wow, that was embarrassing, let's just get the guy with the best CV this time? Which they do, they hire Capello, undoubtedly one of the greatest coaches of all time, but a disciplinarian, an arch-pragmatist and someone who never smiles. Still a good decision that made sense.
Not long before people start complaining about him being TOO STRICT, complaining about the style of football and he's too dour-looking. FA repeatedly publicly undermine him and eventually he has enough and walks a few months before a major tournament.

Bloody foreigners!! Let's get an English guy in, we need a good man-manager, someone who knows the players, knows the English ways..........

to be continued.....

no it's not because one is during this season and the other is after the end of the season, big difference

how could Levy and the board sack Redknapp last year considering how he was doing? I just think it's a non-goer. continue your good work for the season, we'll make contingencies in the summer, and take it from there, makes sense to me!

besides, there's no guarantee Ancelotti would have got the job, or taken it if offered
there's no guarantee he would have done as well as Harry's done, I personally doubt he would
and it would have been even harder to hold onto Modric if we just sacked our manager

Id let him go, just as long as he isn't involved in the upcoming friendly. This way he keeps his eye on the ball so to speak with us till the end of the season as much as that is actually possible. It also gives Levy good time to scout a credible replacement in the summer.

not in a good mood today, still can't believe how everything went from brilliant to shit again so quickly yesterday, barely had time to be relieved at the verdict before some other dark cloud comes looming
