Ok, I hope I don't get into trouble but I was a bit surprised you read Troy Townsend's comments (in ref to Ramsay and Chris Powell):
"To lose both managers sends out a really strong message to those aspiring to get on this journey," said Townsend.
"People will look and think 'Is it worth it? Is it because of the colour of their skin? Or is it because they are bad managers?'
Obviously it's important to encourage black managers but this seems a bit ott, if not shit stirring. Managers get sacked all the time, these two managers are struggling and achieving poor results. Surely no-one would link their sacking to the color of their skin?
Maybe I'm being naive and they would?
I just think these type of comments do more harm than good. Troy needs to focus on positive action, not highlighting what is clearly a coincidence.
People just using his colour as an excuse, and a weapon to drive agendas.
Saw the same the other day with the new passports in Britain - 9 historic figures are included within, 7 male and 2 female - well needless to say women have gone batshit crazy about a lack of equality and acknowledgement for women.
How about - they just happened to put in 7 men and 2 women?
The world is going mental. What happened to our common sense as a species?
Another black manager fails. Almost certainly just a coincidence but it doesn't help address the strange disparity between the player base and management.[/QUOTE
I don't want to encroach on difficult territory. But it is fair to point out that Black residents constituted around 3 per cent of the United Kingdom's population in 2011( It has increased from just under 1.15 million residents in 2001, or 2 per cent of the population, to just over 1.9 million in 2011)
With 92 league clubs 3 % of 92 is roughly 3 black Managers in the leagues at any one time to meet proportional representation, more than 4 becomes a disproportionate representational. According to the BBC of the 230 clubs that make up the seven tiers of English football below the top flight, only 14 have black managers however that 14 would equal 6.09%, which is double the % of population. What needs to be the case is that the best people are selected regardless of sex / race / religion etc. for example women make up the majority of he UK population ( 32.2 million ) how many of those are in football as coaches, managers etc ? zero. That's the uncomfortable truth.
