Foden is having an absolute nightmare of a season on the back of what he did in the one prior. Looks completely devoid of confidence, and like Grealish, Pep seems to be molding him into a safety first player who tries to keep the ball moving rather than beat a man, which he used to do for fun.

Pretty sure this City bad form started the same week Guardiola signed that new contract.

Is it possible he wants out and he is basically doing everything he can to get the sack and that huge juicy early severance fee?

He is like a lad trying to get out of a relationship but not brave enough to dump the girl so he does everything to wreck it. He's even done the classic self harm and depressive "I can't do this anymore" speech. Next week he'll admit he is not over Barcelona

I think it’s a fairly simple answer as to why their firm is so bad. For the last few seasons their players have worked so hard on and off the ball and on top of the undoubted quality they have won so many games. But watching them on Sunday that effort isn’t there anymore. I don’t think it is anything more deep than that, the players are just spent and they haven’t refreshed the squad enough. I suppose that could be because of the nervousness around the charges. Let’s see what they do in January, if they do nothing then it might be a clue as to what they expect those to be, however, if they spend a lot then they probably expect to get off.

Started way before that

Exactly. They just spent. Team needs money thrown at it and a rebuild.

The real question is, are Abu Dahbi still ambitious?

FFP will have the desired effect of making the premier league title race more open. But it will mean Real Madrid endlessly winning the CL as teams like City PSG and Newcastle are hamstrung by the rules.

It started when we beat them in the cup. It got rubber stamped when we hammered them at their place.

They were on a bit of a slippery slope before that, but that home loss was us setting off the charges that caused the avalanche.

Remember when we beat them in the cup it was "they binned it off cos it wasn't important" and "yeh but they played kids" (yet had the older, more experienced, more expensive, higher paid XI).....

.............Only for us to absolutely batter them in the EPL... At home.... With even more of their big guns playing.

I highly doubt a league cup loss was some trigger for a collapse in form. And Sporting Lisbon had already put 4 past them and they'd already been beaten by Bournemouth and Brighton before we beat them at the Etihad.

Seems like wanting to make us the main character when really its a them issue and nothing much to do with us.

Oh yes, I remember all that very well. Apparently they were going to absolutely batter us at their place, I seem to recall some of the more rabid saying they'd put 6 past us.

I don't think I've ever come across another fan base that has fans so hell bent on taking any credit away from their own team.

They may not have the squad they had 3 years ago, there were cracks for all to see, but it was us that finally broke them.

I mean prioritize a replacement and spend some money. I'd be howling for that if I were a City fan.

Vicario would improve that side considerably.

Maybe lately but only a year or so ago, nah. City were extremely good defensively and had a good degree of control over 99% of matches, so a world class shot stopper wasn't a priority and Ederson wasn't particularly prone to errors. He did his unique keeper role and yeah, sometimes shots went in that say a De Gea saves, but for the most part they were fine and dandy.

Right now they're exposed constantly and a shot stopper goalkeeper would be better than a tailored to a specific system goalkeeper. But for a dominant club, Ederson was more than fine.

As I put in my previous post, the cracks were definitely there, but it was getting hammered at home that finally broke them.

It's my team, of course I want to make us the main character. It just so happens though that I think this is more than just wishful thinking.

*shrugged* If that's how you want to view it I guess. I'd say shipping four to Sporting Lisbon after taking a lead would be a very psychologically damaging moment for a team not used to defeats, let alone defeats like that. In between that losing to two mid-table clubs as well.

I'd agree that getting slapped 4-0 at home probably knocked them down ANOTHER peg but a breaking them moment? Not for me. I don't think anything happened over one or two games, their season has been a slow, measurable decline which they haven't been able to change.

Agreed, but they've had defeats like that in the past and roared back. I recall Crystal Palace hitting 3 past them in the not too distant past.

Then let's agree to disagree. Don't get me wrong, I've acknowledged the cracks were there to see, but we turned it into crazy paving!
