A player like Gallagher needs to be surrounded by quality to allow him to do the leg work and play off scraps. Unfortunately Spurs have no quality in midfield or attack so he's just another body at this moment in time.

He is a victim of the weirdest squad building in the history of the game. Gallagher, Sarr Bergvall, Hojbjerg, Bentancur Bissouma, Grey, Paulinha, They just keep fucking coming lungs on legs an endless clone army of cloggers.

Meanwhile I remember 4 years ago 3 years ago 2 years ago, screaming we really need to buy Szoboszlai, Milinković-Savić Hakney...ect ect the names change but the massive hole in the squad remains utterly undressed. Got desperate and switched to ffs try Donnely!! even.

Crazily the entire coaching setup, club, fan base, forgot what a progressive ball playing midfielder was. Started saying with a straight face "can't do without Romero/Porro passing " YES YES WE CAN AND MUST!!. Hoddel Hazzard Gascoigne Eriksen...This is what's missing this is who we are FFS!. Its fucking odd what we became... When the empty DNA talk starts can we simply add ALWAYS having two established players of this profile and one in development at the club on the books.

N’Dombele & Lo Celso happened and the club decided to never buy a technical midfielder again.
 
He looked knackered against Newcastle, people forget he had hardly played any minutes over the past 12 months - has probably come into this shitstorm playing every minute and his body has gone into mild shock.

He is a good player, needs a summer pre-season to bed in properly.

He quite literally cannot complete the simplest pass in transition. Any professional midfielder can at least pass a ball on the run.

No manager can fix issues like this. Frank was many things but he was not forcing Gallagher to do THAT. Blame the donkey.

It's been like 4/5 weeks, and he's had more rest than most as you say. There's excuses, and this, wow.

He's an average Jimmt try hard. Villa would've used him as a depth piece, which would be fine, but we've made him one of the highest earners on a 5.5 year contract, overpaid by £15m ish for him. He's not what was needed, and will only hurt the development of Gray and Bergvall. Waste of time player and signing.

yea, we all want a gerrard like captain, but we have to face reality of where we are, we have a squad packed of kids (some promising) and then a load of....average at best mainly. we are in the shit, we need an actual leader to help give us even a few extra % at this point, romero can clearly not be relied upon. the only two ive seen this season show anything like that is pal and gallagher. you can make a point for VDV but i think he wants off too so i wouldnt even consider him. pal and gallagher are playing like they actually want to be here!

and the 'running about a bit' is you downplaying that they play with intensity, something thats crucial in the dogfight we are in.
im well aware that neither of them are luka modric level footballers, but right now they are going to be important players for us.

It's not rest he needs it's a gradual ramping up of game time, effective training, and an appropriate bedding in period - he has received none of this. Gray and Bergvall are prospects who cannot be depended upon and CG is miles better than both.

He played enough minutes to be ready to play a game a week man, come off it. We already have a surplus of his type of player, it was a stupid singing. Like they just signed him for the sake of singing him. For less money we could've got Neves, who actually is the profile we need
