Very few of our players are suited to sit deep and counter

Maybe Palhinha, Kudus and Solanke.

Most of our players are more a fit for Poch or Eddie Howe or someone of that nature. Even our centre backs are ball players. Frank is another square peg round hole of this club. This squad has some talent but it’s like a sushi chef being given Maoams, Quavers and a pancake and told to go fix it up.

Hes not that player. That footage you have from him doing that at Chelsea must be cherry picking. I've watched loads of him in full games over the years. He has a brilliant engine, unreal pressing and workrate. Meant to be a top character and leader too. But he's extremely limited on the ball. He hasn't a bad shot on him and can score a few goals but he's never been a 1 touch midfielder. That footage you've seen must be total propaganda.
Historically, he chips in with more goals than any of our current 8s (or 10s) and that predates him playing for Chelsea although I know he’s been used in a 8/10 role.

I might be missing something but winning the ball deep in your opponents half seems to be as good (if not better) t a pass from a playmaker. I say better because it probably means your opponent is more defensively out of shape.
We should be playing to his strengths. Fish climbing trees again.

I hope he is, just not seen it yet.
What I will say, in the 2 games he's played, Spam and Burnley, we've controlled possession a lot better than many other games.
61% Vs WHU and 21 shots.
62% Vs Burnley and 18 shots.
48% Vs Sunderland and 13 shots.
I have found, quite a lot this season, that we often fuck up the easier passes. If 1 of our 11 is less prone to it, then that's technically an improvement.
I'm hoping he can duplicate it against better teams...Burnley and Spam!!...it's definitely not definitive yes....

West Ham and Burnley are 17th and 20th in possession so far this season, respectively.

They don't want the ball.
Wolves were rock bottom with no points.
It was a horrid, horrid display from us.
It wasn't in isolation, either.

Okay, but I don't know what relevance that has to the three fixtures you're talking about? We like a 3% swing in our favour of those teams. That's not anything to shout home about. And the fact people are even trying to pick positives out of those two awful performances against 2 teams in the shit, is beyond me.

We should be winning those games in second gear, not be satisfied we matched them. It's absurd. Those were disgraceful performances.

We were 11th, Forest 16th. We had 51% 6 shots and under 0.5 xg.

We have been woeful against everyone.
So suggesting it was only because it was WH and Burnley isn't telling the story.

I'm not arguing that were shit.ive been screaming it from the rooftops since September.

I'm saying that anyone who's deluded themselves into thinking that despite taking 1 whole point against two awful teams, that those performances showed improvement, are deranged.

I'm just suggesting that whilst Gallagher isn't easy on the eye, since he's come in, we've had more control in the game than a lot of games before.
Although somehow still conspired to concede far too many chances against WH and even a few against Burnley that a better team would have scored from.
I think it was more him in the middle not kicking the ball straight out of play 80% of the time that helped us look better if only on paper.

He's definitely a player that can help us in midfield. We now have a lot of options as to what we can do with CM in the summer. Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr and Gray could all see moves- sales or loan, respectively...

This is the thing that really winds me up - we have a squad which really really suits a high press, front foot, run all game kind of setup. Obviously we were going down that route with Ange, but he made the mistake of taking it to the absolute extremes with his nonsense full back positioning and lack of nous with the defensive side (and set piece side) of the game.

If we can just get a guy at the helm who plays that same brand of football but with a bit of a tactical brain then we would be laughing. So many of our guys are runners, athletes and workhorses - let them do what they do best!

Frank was supposed to be a pragmatist, adaptable - and was supposed to get the most out of the resources at hand

Ive said it in a bunch of threads, but I genuinely believe he has mis-profiles/mis-percieved just about EVERYTHING about the job/club/squad since he has been here

After 32 games (I think) even an idiot should have worked this out - although Id have expected a good coach to have known in preseason
