Player Conor Gallagher

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Honestly, I’m basing my opinion on his time at Palace and latterly at Chelsea. Can’t recall seeing him play for Madrid and certainly not basing his ability on a few games after joining our exploding clown car of a club.

You may be right. He may turn out to be a waste of time. But I’ve got hope he won’t be. One of very few hopes I have right now that are associated with us.

I think it's purely hopium - signing a player like Gallagher who was meant to give us a shot in the arm and has the 'mentality' and 'character' to get us over the line and help us to get us up the table clearly isn't working. He may scale up when we have better players and improve but we needed something short term to get us out of this hole and long term i really don't know where he fits because we have a load of other players playing in the same position as him.

Another wasted transfer at Tottenham.

Tired of this.....we need 6s not 8s.

Midfielders whether a 6 or 8 should be able to pass the ball.

The fact that none of ours can, tells us we have bigger system problems

I think once he’s more up to fitness and in a coherent and well managed team he will be a good acquisition. We needed a good passer/creative but getting an energetic (and not being farage about it) english midfielder was a good thing too.

You could say this about any player though, if any of our players played in a well managed and coherent team then they'd play much better and we'd be seeing more out of them, that doesn't really help us now though and we signed Gallagher for the here and now hence why we stuck him on a high wage, if we are waiting for him to come good when things get better then what was the point of bringing him in now?

I assume Frank and Lange thought he’d be better longer term than bentancur or bissouma, in addition to them being injured and likely to leave. His profile as energetic and tough tackling, good mentality seen as a good thing and missing from the squad. How they didn’t see a good passing midfielder as something missing I’m not sure - but not surprised. That’s said I’ve been disappointed in Gallagher ability to string a basic pass - he didn’t have that problem at Chelsea

He didn't have that problem at Chelsea because he was surrounded by technicians, Palmer and Enzo and Caicedo did most of the work with the ball and he did what he did best and mostly crashed the box.

We lack technicians in this team to get the best out of him or any of our other midfielders. The hilarious thing is that he isn't even better with the ball at his feet than Bissouma or Bentencur, he is more consistent though and reliable and energetic I guess...signing him solved some problems and added some problems, it hasn't moved the needle for us.

I really liked Sarr when he first joined us - athletic, good engine and had a goal in him. He seems to have gone off the boil - very poor for their first goal yesterday.

You keep saying this but he's on £350k a week unless you think he's gonna be happy to spend his peak to twilight years back in the Premier League earning less money that he's on now, not sure if it's realistic.

There were other players we could have bought with different profile to Gallagher.

Neves might not be a good example, but we do keep making really poor transfer decisions over and over and over again. That is how we’ve got where we are.

Yes I agree just saying that Neves isn't realistic, we could have had a profile fit and we would have fared better with a player who isn't such a big name...I said before someone like Tyrese Hall could walk into this team because he's a profile we are missing out on.

Our recruitment is probably the worst in the league over the past few years.

Annoys me how we signed Gallagher who is going to be taking minutes off Bergvall, Sarr and Gray now, Lange is an idiot.

Was always going to be bullshit. Buy players who are good with the ball - not that can shout a lot.
It was Frank type nonsense - that we need "leaders ". You don't buy them - they emerge.
