Johnson being whatever you describe him as at Palace is irrelevant. For the most je did a decent to good job for us of scoring goals.

That numerous posters said Frank sussed out Johnson early doors would only have had any weight if what we saw under Frank in Jphnson's absence was something worthy of the name. We didn't, so Frank's view lost much credibility.

That said having decided to sell Johnson, get a bloody goal getter in, or another wide man or an out and out striker. If too difficult don't fcuking sell.

The size of the catalogue of poor decisions is one Argos would be proud of.
You have to wonder if it's bad decisions overall or 'good decisions' for business. Selling Johnson was cashing in at max value, despite calamitous effect on the squad.

In fact, scratch that, I'm tired. It's bad decisions full stop. They knew they were taking a risk, they just thought they were too big to fail. Apart from Lange, everyone at the club was 'new' for full season. They all thought they knew what they were doing.

Penny wise, pound twats.

Selling BJ without a replacement was so, so foolish. RW was the one position we had no depth in, and they sold the little bit we had.

Of course it was mate.

I didn't like the sale, mostly because I saw us as simply not utilising Johnson as was the case towards the end of his time with us.

But I do recall a few posters thinking it must mean we are signing someone. It did but not a direct replacement. What a shower.

Lange and the CEO. Beyond incompetent.

The first few pages of this thread make for some hilarious reading.
Hands up from me..

Maybe not what we needed when it comes to type of player and skills, but I was quite confident that he was going to improve our midfield. My memory of him from the Chelsea days was that he had load buckets of energy and agility in him, delievered assists and goals, and was something close to a leader on the park.

Very dissappointing stuff amd poor deliverance uptil now. Seems rusty and goes hiding, and has no flow in his overall play. That said, I think it's a difficult task he has been given. He was not a regular for Athletico, and is arriving to a broken team.

In hindsight it's clear to say he was the wrong player, at the wrong time, but has not given up on him. Still quite early days, and I hope we give him some more time to adapt and play himself into form

He was sandwiched between two very technical midfielders at Chelsea so his weaknesses weren't nearly as exposed. Focus not on him so he had more time and space than he ought to have.

It was found out very quickly at Atleti, hence getting rid of him sharpish. But no doubt they looked at running stats, injury history and thought that would be enough. You can't implant him or Palinha into a team already devoid of technically ability and expect them to even do okay. Teams know we have no technicians so press the midfield knowing it's going backwards and then hoofed forward. And for this reason, I cannot fathom as to why we hired a manager who needs technicians in midfield, to save us with 7 games remaining.

You may very well be right. He is not a very tecnical player, that's for sure, but he seemed very useful in that Chelsea team.

He is our player now, and would like to see if he can thrive with better, more tecnical players in place

Few years ago when he was on loan at CP, I was so impressed and thought we need to get him, only to realize later he was on load from, of course, chelshit.
He was so good that they recalled him. He did look very good again for them and Poch even made him captain. I thought they got their new Lampard now.
Read that chelshit fans were so angry when he was sold.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT PLAYERS??????? HE LOOKS SO LOST HERE.

Either he has no chemistry with any of our players, or he is being asked to do things out of his skill set. The good stuff I mentioned above is when he played closer to the opposition box, up front. He is not a box-to-box player, put him behind/around Xavi, or Madison, and he can help the attack, press, chase the ball in the opposition third, and even score. If you play him on the defensive side, he might not be much of a help.
Also, if our front men are &*#$%^& then won't be affective. He is a squad player and not a driving force.

However, if Madison comes back, I'd put this guy beside him and leave Palhinha behind as a single DM. The kids can join as subs, but we need grown ups now to start matches.

He was proper good at CP.

All went downhill form there tho.

Sorry but he is what he is, was open about not being a fan. Wrong profile and always felt negativity about him as a footballer. I couldn't honestly get past Chelsea being happy to dump their captain academy graduate and supporter. He needs to be moved on quietly like BJ. Tried to get behind him but fuck me he is even worse than I feared.

So we've got a staunch Chelsea fan in our midfield, and a Gooner in the boardroom!

Any chance we can have SOME ACTUAL SPURS FANS representing our club???
