Player Cristian Romero

You're not laughing at yourself though.

You're ridiculing a guy you expect to throw his body on the line for you.... AGAIN.
With the money he’s paid, I’m sure he can deal with a small muscle injury just fine. The guy is another Lamela just not as injury prone.

Last year he was hurt and missed time traveling with Argentina. Remember how long it took him to finally play?

We will be just fine without him. If the midfield and attack struggle like this past weekend, we have bigger issues than the back line.

Yes, really smart to play through muscle injuries. They’ll never get worse or anything.

He's barely been tested.

Not true though is it..... As Starks Starks illustrated; he played plenty under Conte last season and did pretty well. (The one game lost with him in the line-up was as part of a collectivly piss-poor performance v Chelsea)

He's not as good as Romero, but face it; if Conte thought he wasn't a viable back-up, Dav would have been punted about for sale all summer along with TN, GLC, Rodon, Reg, Winks.

I understand your view however there wasn’t any malice on my post. Just banter.

Yeh, I get that.... But the guy's done pretty well for us under Conte. Isn't it better to support him now he's needed, rather than stir up and perpetuate a "he's shit" narrative?

(This is a general point to all...... )

.....People talk about 2nd chances and clean slates or say stuff like "X is OK as a back-up", but so often it proves to be hollow BS.

Sanchez is perfectly fine imo. The problem is that he stunts our attacking build up considerably with his poor passing and he can be pressed (City will target him) but it’s not a disaster.

That being said it’s not as bad as Dier getting injured. The fact that we would be completely fucked with Eric Dier hurt is pretty scary btw.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves..... Romero was said to be out for "a few weeks".

Yep; not our best CB, but we look rudderless without him.

Sanchez played in those defeats at home to Southampton and Wolves and was terrible. Ok it was Dier out and not Romero but the lack of ability on the ball on the right with Sanchez and Emerson was pretty woeful. Last 3 games he and the whole defence had nothing to do, Burnley and Norwich barely got in our half and the Goons down to 10 men after 25 minutes was damage limitation. He's not the worst in the world but he was and remains flakey imo.

Sanchez isn't a bad player, but this is a blow coming into a run of fixtures during which we'd like to be gathering momentum. You'd worry a bit about our build up play, I do wonder whether he might experiment with Dier at RCB and Lenglet in the middle once the latter is fit. Very worrying if Romero keeps picking up muscle injuries.
