Ange was/is shit.
First 10 matches were great.
Last match was bliss on tap - finally, a trophy.
In between he was complete shit. 5th place in the first season is a misnomer, because we were so far ahead of the pace after 10 matches we were able to capitulate and still cling on to 5th.
If we'd merely had a "good" start to the season in 2023-24, 6-2-2 (2 ppm still CL form), then we'd have finished 7th. If we'd had standard Spurs form, say 5-3-2 (1.8 ppm), then we'd have finished 8th and been within shouting distance to 9th.
If his first 10 matches had been the same as the last 28 matches, then we'd have finished no better than 9th and likely worse due to the increase in points other clubs would have seen.
Ange caught the league off guard - people couldn't fathom a team playing with wanton disregard to defending. But he was quickly found out, and teams just sat back, soaked up pressure, and pinged balls into the massive gaps we left at the back through blatant dereliction of duty.
