I’m guessing you won’t read this as I am on ignore but I’m a bit worried for you . As you rightly say you have had one day without Daniel and seem to be on it like a Levy outer after 25 years . At this rate by 2050 you really will be in a terrible way .

Dean Austin took some awful stick back in the day. People forget during his first season he was playing quite well but broke his leg and was never the same after that.

Other players that stand out as scapegoats... Sissoko, Bentley, BJ in the modern era

That is true but some were real shite. Although not the players fault for being shite but the clubs for buying them in first place. Like deadline day sissoko as we fucked with other transfer we ended up with him.

IMO the only reason the EL means more these days is simply because it’s not the worst form of Europe. The CL qualification for the winners has been around since 2015, so it’s not like that swung things. No one really cared when Utd won in 16. And I’d argue no dropdown from the CL has hurt its perception, since that’s one of the bigger criticisms our win has had.

I remember when the word ‘Europe’ in football media was basically shorthand for ‘Champions League’. I grew up in the ‘Thursday night, channel 5’ days; remember the 2-2 vs Chels away in 12/13 with the Adebayor screamer and after every goal scored, that song came out from both sets of fans because the game was seen as the CL decider?

The Conference has been a massive success for UEFA tbh, it’s seen as a somewhat respectable trophy and has massively increased the value of the two above it.

Good trophy to remember but remember hardly any of the top teams from the top leagues compete in it. So for the next tier of clubs it’s a realistic and easier trophy to win. Which if you win goes in your trophy cabinet and adds to your trophy haul. However if you are top team regularly coming in top 4 you can’t qualify. So you go in CL but unlikely to win that so you end up trophy less. Teams like BM , Rm, etc can’t add to their Euro trophy haul by winning Europa. So it’s a bit misleading and makes the trophy stat a bit flakey.

I just am not convinced that we're going to have the shackles off now and see a totally different Tottenham. Unless ENIC put the club up for sale then it'll be more of the same.

I also think Frank was a Levy appointment which makes me wonder if our current project has the full backing of the board. Time will tell. I hope its all positive change but I'm cautious.

We don’t want a glazer type take over where the buyers basically buy the club using the club itself as the financial leverage and not put their own money in.

I guess when the consultants went in, things were at their lowest ebb. And at that point, given the amount spent on transfers over the past couple of years under Ange and Conte, it was screaming that the football side of the club was not being well run.

Would absolutely love to read that consultants' report! No doubt a bit in there about Levy and his fondness for over-priced "prospects".

Levy should have been sacked for that appointment alone.
May be Munn was the kiss of death for levy if the consultants concluded the football side was a mess. Levy bought Munn to look after football operations and oversaw signing the likes of turbo twice on stupid high wages.

I'd say that's a pretty harsh assessment of Redknapp. His eye for picking out players was good and I don't recall too many games where he was tactically outsmarted under us. I think he's become an underrated manager due to this common assumption that he was some sort of Cockney chancer

You don't have to make the asset more valuable to make profit from it. Christ, the Glazers have made enormous amounts of profit off Utd whilst running it into the ground. Remember, they didn't pay a single penny of their own money to buy Utd, they leveraged. They could still sell Utd at a price that would just cover the debts and they'll still have walked away with 100's of millions in dividend payments. They milked that cow dry then got another mug to pony up over a Billion to buy a piece of a rotting carcass.

They are going cold turkey in trying to kick the habit . The withdrawal symptoms are super severe in these circumstances , they should have been weaned off of Daniel over a period of time.
He should have been demoted to putting the names on the shirts in the club shop , then maybe 6 months cleaning the bogs before being fully removed . Going straight to castrated shareholder was always going to be painful for them .
