Under the provisions in the Code, PCP could yet return with a formal takeover bid for Spurs if invited to do so by the board of Enic, or if a rival bidder announces its intention to make a firms offer for last season's Europa League winners.

City sources pointed to these caveats as being particularly relevant to Ms Staveley's potential ongoing interest in Spurs.

Who mentioned the stadium?

Before that our revenue was lower, yet we finished 2nd, 3rd, a few fourths and a CL Final to boot.

Is that not punching above our weight? We weren't even 9th in the World then.
That was, yes. For a while, we found a couple of niche strategies that worked well. We also won the double in 61 and were the first non league club to win the FA - whereas under levy we largely won FA

So, in other words, we have punched above our weight for years?

Interesting.
Yes, it seems so.

Taking the last 20 years, thus after the nineties mess was cleared up, our turnover hovered between 5th and 6th highest in the PL (4th on two isolated occasions in the last 6 years, one of which benefitted from our run to the CL final). If we exclude two outlier seasons, 2007/08 and 2024/25, when we won trophies and league form suffered, then an average of a bit better than fifth in the league was achieved. So, on average, we were punching a little above our weight.

Of course, we did a lot better than that in a handful of seasons when we got into the CL and punched some way above our weight.

In those two decades, there were 40 opportunities to win a domestic trophy, FA or League Cup. What some forget is that success here is also strongly influenced by spending power. Thus, over 20 seasons, the top four richest clubs have hoovered up 29 domestic trophies. The remaining 11 trophies were won by 11 different clubs including Spurs on one occasion.

Should we have won more domestic trophies? Well, if you're outside the rich four, then the answer is no. You have to be rich enough to fail. We weren't rich enough.

Levy was on the case: increase turnover so that we can better compete.

If Levy failed, it was not over the span of his tenure, but in recent years when we did not adapt our recruitment and wages structure to the increased revenues afforded by the stadium.

Absolutely. It's the last few years where we've seen a tail off, primarily from what can only be called bad management.

Ultimately, he is and was accountable to the Lewis'. In those initial 20 years we were on a steady upward trend, which I feel is Levy's forte, growing a business. Considering the hurdles he had to overcome, I don't think there's another Chairman out there could have done it as well. However, his cycle is over. He's built enormous foundations for the club, with all of the risk associated managed superbly. But he's now at the pointy end where that risk management strategy isn't going to work.

If the Lewis' have decided that it's time to take bigger risks in order to advance further, then good, it's time this Giant started flexing its muscles.

Let's not forget though, we're in this position because of Levy's leadership. Whilst it may be time for him to move on, there's no doubt he set the foundations.

True! Levy couldn’t stand the heat once it was big money and other clubs had improved their recruitment.

The fuck has that to do with your post or mine?

Typical stupid idiot behaviour. I have no response, therefore I’m going to post something completely unrelated because I’m a goalpost moving cunt.

You used to be a good poster. You’ve let this Levy obsession fuck you up though. It’s a shame to see.

The data on that image shows profit making cash-cow behaviour moreso than any other PL club since Levy arrived at Spurs.

Perfectly like what he said about Rangers.

But yeah, you do you, and criticise the messenger.

I don't give a rat's arse whether you think I'm a good poster or not.
